If you read threads on battery models, in the comments they are almost treated as disposable, e.g. "if the batteries die I'll just junk it and buy a new one". That's crazy. A small engine like this will basically last forever if you do a minimum amount of maintenance, plus you CAN fix it, cheaply too. Are you taking apart a battery to replace cells, or tearing apart a motor to fix it? No.

I would say that the part that had the issue were not installed on these engines. After consulting the manual (page 17) its confirmed that these mowers have 2 serial numbers; One for the engine and the other is on the deck and the box its shipped in. If the number on the engine is does not have a dot and is above serial GJAVA-1732122 then it never had the issue to begin with.

Received mine yesterday. No green sticker on the box but there was a punch next to the serial number on the engine. Did my first cut today and I'm not sure if this is a fault or a feature but it seemed like the the "roto-stop" would disengage by itself. It made a sound like I was hitting a rock or twig but I definitely wasn't. Like every 2-3 minutes this was happening and I feel like it can't be normal. Anyone else have this issue?

I ordered this. It shipped with FedEx from CA and I live in KY. There was no tracking and then it just appeared on my doorstep. Green sticker on box, and the box had obviously been opened at some point. There might have been a stamp on the engine tag, but it wasn't clear. On the first time using it today the roto stop kept turning off repeatedly. After mowing half the yard I could not get the blade to engage at all. I took this back to Home Depot and got a refund. I have had many Honda mowers over the years. I do not think this mower lives up to the Honda standard.

Did another cut today. For anyone having issues with the Rotostop. I spread out the rotostop bar before I cut and it didn't cut off at all today. Seems like a poor design but once you know what the issue is pretty simple to fix.

Still on the fence as this is a really heavy unit, turning is a pain in the butt. Hard to get used to coming from a super light ryobi electric that does just as well cutting.

Finally got around to taking it out of the box and trying it.

Compared to my older Honda mower with the gcv160 this one seems to vibrate more. Is this normal or did mine possibly get damaged during shipping?

Got our new mower back from service. They replaced a spring in the Roto Stop. Husband almost finished yard and it started cutting out AGAIN. Going back to Home Depot. Don't know if we will try another Honda.

I'd try spreading the Rotostop handle and see if that fixes it.
