The 4090 is twice the price of a 4080 Super but isn't twice the performance, going by the benchmarks. And for a gaming rig, I would've expected one of the X3D chips.

This is my guess. The link he found on Amazon was actually 4080 one which is $2499, so the customer service gave him an even cheaper price because it is now $2199.
