Yes. This game is amazing. Helps to have a PS5 controller for the full effect. You don't really need to have played any other god of war games to enjoy it.
FWIW, it's currently $24.99 on Steam.
I'd start with the original god of war games
This was my first GOW game and I'm enjoying it (still actively playing it...I don't get to play much)
Honestly, this is the place to start. It has nothing to do with the original games, aside from the main character, and this is such a huge improvement over those old ones. I loved the first three, back in the day, but this and Ragnarok are just so much better. I've tried going back to the old ones and I can't do it.

Epic is cheaper during the last XMAS sale.
Have to echo what others are saying, there are only minor references to previous GOW games in this one, you can totally play this without playing the previous games.
Now, the new Horizon Forbidden West (new as in, the PC version that just released) on the other hand, you DEFINITELY want to play the first game beforehand.
