FYI 2: If you want to add one to an area that is conductive metal that would trip the leak sensor, say an AC drip pan, just put a small piece of paper towel between the detector and metal surface. Some folks do this even for non-conductive surfaces - the theory being that any moisture contact with the paper towel will wick water in triggering the sensor. (Multiple probes on the bottom of the sensor need to be wet to detect a leak.)

When the sensor contacts on the top or the bottom get wet due to water leak, it sends a signal to the gateway and that alerts you via app notifications. The sensor also emits a loud sound.
