They did just update the drivers to increase the memory overclocking headroom and TechPowerUp has it within 1% of the 3090 Ti in TimeSpy Extreme GT1. I'm guessing that's best case scenario, but it's definitely closer now (and within 5% of the 7900 XT.) It's still going to struggle with any raytracing titles, FSR still isn't as good as DLSS and Frame Gen isn't there yet either (though the 3090 doesn't have that either.)

Not bad for $540 though.

Looking forward to my first build with this card. Could not beat the deal last week through Zip (soft pull so no BS), less than $500 with tax, seems like its a pretty good cost/performance spot to be in. For me, with intention to build 2 of the smallest form factor trading PC's with 16gb GPU's to run triple 1440 monitors, I think I'll be hard pressed to beat this one. Maybe the A770 would have been sufficient, who knows...but can't complain for the price. Unfortunately it will sit in a box for the next few months while collecting the rest of the build.

Just do a search "compare Nvidia 2060 and Radeon 7900 gre" and you should get several hits that can give you a ballpark on the differences in design and performance.

Isn't that a little deceptive?

The 3090 Ti is 2% faster on 1080p, which is hardly the market for these kinds of cards… but you also left out the 4k comparison, which is 16% difference - certainly not a negligible difference.

I don't think you are going to overcome an 8gb memory deficit with a driver update and some overlocking.

Not trying to be an asshole, but it doesn't look great to post a source and only highlight the part of it that fits your narrative.
