I had it and it was not bright enough for me, other than that great interface, nice picture and sharp image. It is now discontinued and dropped price by another 150.
I have this. One thing about this projector that is inconvenient is that you cannot access or adjust the projector setting menu without the remote! Crazy decision by designers, esp for a "on the go" backyard type projector!

It's otherwise decent for a LED 4K projector. But i still can't fathom the poor choice of not able to access projector menu without the remote!!
Input lag for anyone curious:

Input Lag

25 ms (1080p@60Hz), 25 ms (4K@60Hz), 28ms (1080p@120Hz)

Seems good for a dark room, but 1500 lumens is too low for a living room with light.

This also means if your remote dies in a few years you might have very limited options to replace it and if you can't replace it you got yourself a piece of junk.

That is indeed a problem since BenQ has discontinued this projector. So it is unknown how long you will be able to get a remote from BenQ. I don't imagine this remote would be that easily obtained on ebay either.

I just did a quick search on ebay for a GP500 remote. Got zero hit.... lol...

Overall, a very poor decision by BenQ. I am also floored by the fact that none of the reviews of this projector pointed out this obvious glaring HUGE problem!!

I 've owned about more than half dozen projectors. From a $30 walmart to a $2000 LG and this is the first and only projector i've personally come across in which you can't access the projector menu without having a remote...lol ..All of the other ones, you can use the control buttons on the projector itself to use the menu!

You see a problem with unable to go into the projector menu without the remote? I have one and this is kinda a big issue for me. I actually debate returning it...

Don't know why BenQ decided to do this to this projector!

The projector also supports the BenQ Smart Control app, which lets you transform your Android or iOS device into a remote control.

That would require you to first pair your projector and phone on a wifi or BT. And you can't do that without the remote initially. And then after that, if you have new wifi network or change phone, etc with no projector remote, you are screwed.

You know any Sofabaton or Harmony remote can do this with ease. Or the switchbot which is $30 and can control all of your devices through Alexa (and a phone to setup). There's no such thing as a device that is dead because there are no remotes anymore.

Most smart remote databases are for common things like TV, not projectors. Also, for these remotes to "learn" you need the original remote in first place. So I guess you better prophylactically buy a Harmony remote and program it while you still have the original remote and lock up the original remote in a safe....lol

I've had no issues adding any of my 3 BenQ projectors to my Harmony. In fact, there are extra controls in the database the original remote doesn't have (like dedicated on and off, gamma, brightness, and contrast for the x3000i). Also, even though they differ greatly in appearance, the remotes have all used the same codes, so any Benq remote would likely be able to control this. Since this has built-in Android, you'd want one of their dual-mode IR/BT remotes, which come with a lot of their newer projectors.

It is an odd choice by BenQ, though. They have onboard controls on every other one of their models that I've seen.

Would this be a good option for a golf simulator?

The Switchbot is great and totally worth the $30 and can store it forever. Cheaper than buying a spare remote, actually. Can hit ten IR buttons at once to get your whole system running via voice command (Alexa et al). Also, both my modern BenQ projectors have the same frequencies for the buttons and are almost perfectly interchangeable. Menu, up, down, etc. that matters.
If it's that scary, just get a universal.
Seriously, people need to stop freaking out about the remote. It's a solved issue.

Any reviews or experience?
no experience with this model but it only outputs 1500 lumins (and even those are probably overexxagerated) so this will only be good in a completely dark room and I wouldn't try to go the advertised 150 inch screen with only 1500 lumins more like 100 inch max which can still be an enjoyable movie night. in 2024 I personally wouldn't pick up a projector with only 1500 lumins myself unless it was a toy projector to project some halloween ghosts or something like that. That being said if you use it in a completely dark room and keep the size to around 100 inches you still could have a decent experience with a projector with these specs.

This has keystone and 4 corner correction traits desireable in a golf simulator projector but it does have a long throw distance which means you will have trouble mounting it in a location behind you (because of the long throw ratio1.0 where a .6 throw ratio or lower would be better for golf simulator) that you won't be casting a shadow on the screen when your golfing. In addition the lower lumin output of 1500 means this projector's intended use case is for a home theater or gaming in a completely dark room. You wont be able to have much ambient light in the room (to see to swing). You might be able to pull it off but there are much better options. Personally I would go to Amazon and get a GT2000 HDR for aroudn the same price, you will be giving up the 4K but unless you have a $1000 golf impact screen you wont be able to tell 1080p from 4K in a golf simulator because the texture of the lower end screens wont give you 4K back even if you use a 4K projector. Now if you have a $1K impoact screen then likely you can afford a better projector than this one for your simulator.

What would be your recommendation for 2000+ lumens, similar pricing and respectable good brand?
