I bought them for this price a bit ago. They're fine, the build quality definitely isn't the best and i wasn't blow away by the sound. But i might have just gotten to the point of diminishing returns
Is this an upgrade to a HD6xx (HD650 made by drop)?
Not too much, if any. These will add some more bass so they sound fuller, so if that is your thing they are an option. Personally I wouldn't get it and would save up for the Arya's if I was looking for more bass/sub-bass

If you don't have a decent amp you likely aren't giving them enough power to be their best, either.

I upgraded to the Ananda Nano from this. If you don't want to mess with EQ, the XS is a better buy.
The Nano is way too "bright" in the Treble regions, but with EQ it punches above its price like the XS does.
EQ'ed Ananda Nano is like 80-90% as good as the Arya Organic at half the price.
Sennheiser 58x, Fidelio X2HR, Momentum 4s, various cheaper studio type headphones and IEMs. So nothing too crazy. I do like them and dont feel ripped off (actually i bought them for $329 so $50 more). But i just didnt find them to be necessarily a big upgrade from what i had for the price. I think a big part is how weirdly cheap they feel; it feels sturdy enough but the pads and plastic used feels like a sub-$100 headphone which is disappointing.
I use a Qudelix 5k for harder to drive headphones, but i never had an issue with volume on these even when plugged into my PC. Maybe a better DAC or amp would bring these out more, but thats a rabbit hole i would rather not go down right now. I do still enjoy them but dont personally find them super compelling except for gaming because of the soundstage.
