Drano is basically dilute Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH).

https://a.co/d/43I1IIx

This is even cheaper: 2lb for $16. Equivalent to 2.5 gallons Drano (that's 10 bottles of Drano).
1- boiling water

2- baking soda followed with vinegar

3- plunger

4- clean the p trap

5- snake

Oddly enough I just had a nasty clog and none of those worked. I used the suction on my shop vac and attached it to the end of the breather pipe. It was a bunch of egg shells that were completely blocking the pipe. I used to throw egg shells into the garbage disposal. Not doing that again.
this sums up the entire internet. A comment that is so wrong, yet everybody will believe just because it sounds good because they are too lazy to even check for themselves

The 80oz is still cheaper per ounce even without the 20% coupon

I'm a Google and YouTube plumber. The baking soda, vinegar, and scalding water thing has done the trick, most times.

do you boil the baking soda in the water or do you pour boiling water first and then let baking soda sit in the drain?

Pour the boiling water first. The baking soda gets washed by the vinegar which will create a lot of fizz.

Good price, but this thing doesnt work. Would like to hear some anecdotal evidence on what does

This is the only drain cleaner that has worked for me. Not going to clear lines that have standing water, but if the lines r clear of standing water and u let this sit for long enough it will unclog. The gel works much better than anything else ive used (even acids). Must make sure it is safe for ur pipes and system.

Unclogging TLDR
  • Step 1: Clog something.
  • Step 2: Choose 2A or 2B
    • 2A: Use Lye (derivatives like Drano) for municipal water systems, depending on pipe material and layout.
    • 2B: Use natural enzymes (derivatives like Bio-Clean [amazon.com]) for well water systems, depending on pipe material and layout.
  • Step 3: Enact (1-3) applications of 2A or 2B per manufacturer instructions.
  • Step 4: If clog persists, proceed to physical removal (drain snake, auger, jetter, removal of pipe, etc).

The liquid (gel) Drano is kinda useless. It's too diluted and doesn't do much.

The Drano crystals version is way more effective. Just pour crystals into sink, follow with some boiling water. Do it twice. Done.

The crystal Drano also has the 20%off.

What do you guys recommend for Toilets (Non septic)? My teenage daughter keeps clogging hers and I have to Plunge it to fix it. She says its not her and what she puts in the toilet. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

No it's not. Do the math and stop being lazy. It's about the same price per ounce, negligibly better but basically the same price. It's usually more economical to have a smaller bottle. You shouldn't be using more. If you are, you need a plumber

(I'll do the math for you. It's about 9 cents an ounce for both)
It's literally .095 per ounce (32 ounce) vs .091 per ounce (80 ounce) which was the point of his post.

So hot water first, then add baking soda and vinegar then let it sit? I don't know what you mean by washed
