Drano is basically dilute Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH).

This is even cheaper: 2lb for $16. Equivalent to 2.5 gallons Drano (that's 10 bottles of Drano).
1- boiling water

2- baking soda followed with vinegar

3- plunger

4- clean the p trap

5- snake

Oddly enough I just had a nasty clog and none of those worked. I used the suction on my shop vac and attached it to the end of the breather pipe. It was a bunch of egg shells that were completely blocking the pipe. I used to throw egg shells into the garbage disposal. Not doing that again.
this sums up the entire internet. A comment that is so wrong, yet everybody will believe just because it sounds good because they are too lazy to even check for themselves

The 80oz is still cheaper per ounce even without the 20% coupon

So hot water first, then add baking soda and vinegar then let it sit? I don't know what you mean by washed

You asked if you just let the baking soda sit, I'm trying to say that nothing is going to sit since the vinegar is liquid so it'll mix with the baking soda and take it down the drain

Got it. So you let it stay like that for a bit and then flush?

Yes. Just flush it with hot water. Honestly if it doesn't go down on its own flushing it ain't going to do anything. That's when you jump to the next steps.

Don't use chemical clog remover unless you want to thin out the pipe like mine; one of the metal p-trap under the sink cracked like an egg shell. Just use baking soda.

This always works for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PKNBK24 unless you've got something nasty like potato peels blocking your drain, in which case you need to break out the snake.
Thank you!

I have a clog in a tub that my plumber couldn't snake because the grate over the drain, which can't be removed, has spaces that are too small to put his snake through. He said he believes my clog is caused by tree roots and that the only way he could clear it is to physically cut open the pipe from an access panel. It won't be cheap and he said the issue might return because the root(s) will still be there.

He advised me to run this Drano product several times in hope it would eat away at the root. I tried a few times and it didn't work. I was literally pouring money down the drain.

I bought the Pure Lye on your recommendation and after two applications my drain is clear. I didn't think anything would clear it but this did the trick. And I suspect this could cut through potato peels without too much trouble.

Thanks for recommending it, I'm beyond ecstatic.
