Showing product thumbnail in forum thread list? (Desktop website)

If I'm viewing the hot deal forum on the desktop website there is no product image thumbnail shown for each thread, but the mobile website has the product images. If I perform a search on the desktop site, the list of returned threads has the product images. Looking at the website settings I see no way to change this behavior - I only have the option of showing product categories or not. I'm I missing something, or can this be fixed?

that functionality is not available on the desktop version of the site at this time although who knows what the future holds. as a work around (h/t to emceep for this tip) you could do a blank search, filter to just the hot deals forum and browse that way or bookmark one of the following
