Need to be 50-75 bucks cheaper..not a good deal imo
I got both 12900k bundle and this one 13700k bundle from microcenter in the past 2 weeks.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Asus board is better. I had issues with not recognizing nvme and slow boot time with MSI board. The MSI's default voltage is too high and causing high cpu temp, especially with enhanced turbo on. No issues with asus board although you need to get a nvme heatsink since it's not provided with the board.

2. I undervolted both CPUs. Set offset -0.070 and -0.05 and power limited 125w and 120w pl1/pl2 on 12900k and 13700k respectively. 12900k lost about 12% and 13700k lost about 18% in multi thread but the temperatures are <65 c under benchmark and still about 10% faster than 13600k. Gaming temp is around 50-55 c. Overall 13700k runs slightly hotter but still scores better than 12900k in multi thread.

If you are buying for gaming only, just get the 12900k. It's a lot cheaper and the fps is almost the same between these two CPUs.
It is for gaming purpose but there's plenty of pleople needs their desktop for productivity reasons. Even though ryzen's been a great alternatives, a lot of productivity softwares tend to support intels better.

Is the Intel vs. Ryzen for business/desktop apps like Handbrake / Office's real-world use really negligible however? Or are we talking like a video conversion that takes 5 minutes on Ryzen 78003xd take only 3 minutes on this Intel?

Dang, if last time was a 14th Gen being sold for the same price as this 13th Gen does that mean last time was a price mistake?

Of course, what was I thinking. I thought CPU and GPU do the same things. I mean, there's gotta be productivity things, otherwise why would people sell them. You're right, it was so obvious! I should buy more cores to be more productive, because it's called productivity right? We gotta do all the things faster. But not gaming. No we don't play games here. We're serious people!

I'm still waiting for an actual answer to my question.
Most of adobe's product are preferred to intel because of quicksync(seen someone actually using amd cpu+intel gpu just for that before), some music industries vst plugins are still performing better just because of the history that they've been supporting for intel macs, there used to be some thunderbolt audio interfaces having trouble with amd but not sure if it's fixed or not. e-core been working fine(at least in most productivity tasks, still seeing couple issues with gaming) with windows 11.
Someone who "actually" needs intel will not even ask if they need intel or not because of the compatibility of their main softwares (of course amd doesn't really have tons of bugs after them coming back to mainstream, but still are kinda preferred to intel due to how softwares are programmed), but if theres not so much of difference, 7900x will perform well with almost the same price range and could spend less on cooling (intel tends to run way hotter than amd these days)

Yes. I got the MC bundle with the 7800x3d and paired it with a 7900 GRE GPU. Without OC on the GPU my TimeSpy 3DMark tested at 20,405.

I can only speak for Handbrake. Using the same settings for a 1080p, h264 lvl 4.1 encode @ CQ 18, slow setting on multiple tests.... the Intel 13700k was, on average, 3 minutes faster than my Ryzen 5800x. So encoding 10 movies the intel would save you 30 minutes only.

So it's more of a compatibility issue, not a performance issue then. Thanks for giving an actual answer. Quicksync is fine in a pinch, but like I said, you can buy any low end nvidia gpu, and nvenc would perform a lot better. Unless Adobe products don't support GPU hardware acceleration. But if folks want to get Intel CPU for work, and don't want to deal w/ compatibility problems, that's a valid reason too. In that situation, reliability is more important than performance/$.

Are those processors comparable? 16/24 Intel vs 8/16 AMD. Shouldn't a 5900x be a better comparison

What are people's thoughts on this bundle compared to the $400 i9 12900k bundle? Seems like this one has slightly better mobo and cpu but worth the extra $100?

That 400$ bundle was the deal one a century

I do Music Production. CPU is king and the plugins get harder and harder on CPUs. You can easily max out the CPU with certain PlugIns (Effects and Synths/Sounds) so the better the CPU the less problems.
