Welp...thanks Maytag

This happened this morning.

Front load Maytag high capacity washing machine.

No metal in pockets, no belt buckles etc. Started the machine stepped away for a few minutes and a loud noise scared the dogs and it sounded like someone put rocks in the machine. This is what I found...

Lots of glass all over inside the machine, big pieces and lots of shards. It was just filling up with water so I have the dirty clothes in the dryer (ick) so that I am not leaving a river of water getting them out to the laundromat after work.

This is called static glass fatigue phenomenon [aip.org]. Even if the washer is under warranty, it would be difficult to prove to the company it's not a user's fault. My condolences...

Follow up: Saw my wife but forgot what I was supposed to ask her so I asked her advice on scrubbing toilets instead. She said she'll check with the cleaning lady when she gets back from spring break next week. Sorry for the delay!

She too damn stupid to go to college! Her BAMA shirt is proof of her ignorance. It's her 4 kids that are out of school this week so she has to stay home make sure they don't get into any trouble at the trailer park where they live.

Yeah, not going to try and have it repaired, even with getting as much glass out of everything as I could I still found shards of glass in the dryer lint screen (had to dry the clothes a bit before I could throw them in a basket to take to the laundromat). I don't want to deal with the shards that would have gotten into the drum holes and crevices.
I ordered a Whirlpool top load with impeller & agitator. Hoping that helps with the big comforters.

Would you consider a trade? The kitchen sink got seriously clogged. Plumber came out and installed new pipes. About 15 minutes after he left I noticed there is a leak coming from the new pipes.

Thanks... the new machine is a beast as far as capacity goes. laugh out loud It's 5.2 cu ft and normally a king sized comforter takes up even a large capacity machine.. I think those are around 4.6 cu ft.??? I took the agitator out (really wish I could do that in more areas of life laugh out loud) and put in a KS comforter plus a KS sheet and still had lots of room. Once it had water in it the stuff barely took up half the machine tub. For that reason I like the new one so far.
