What does PCO stand for (if any) and what are the new PCO type deals that are being promoted?

What are these new deals being promoted on the FP that has comments disabled but link to surveymonkey to provide feedback? Is it for a fractional cohort that the feature is being experimented on?

I thought a deal was pretty good from it, but without comments or thumbs it's hard to tell if it's a good deal or not. Am I allowed to repost those deals for e-karma? (I assume the products promoted here adhere to SD's Amazon third-party merchant guidelines)

Title states PCO because the URL path goes through the /pco/ route. /f/ is for forum, etc.

What could PCO stand for?
  • Paid Campaign Offer
  • Personalized Carousel Offer
  • Personalized Carousel Opportunity
  • Personalized Content Offer
  • Private Channel Offer
  • Product Catalog Offer
  • Product Catalog Object
  • Product Content Offering
I'm going to guess it's Product Catalog Object, since it seems like I can increment and potentially scrape the IDs of these products from slickdeals.net/pco/200000-200000000/ (sampled manually)

I'm only making this post because I took some adderall and the curiosity is killing me.

Thanks SD staff for all that you do (:

I guess I could've answered my own question by viewing the page source.

Looks like I'm indeed part of an experiment for showcasing PCO (product catalog offer) deals (60% off or more) from a graph db on the JFY (Just for You) carousel.

Code:
{
        "testKey": "graph-382-jfy-pco-2c-v4.yaml",
        "variantName": "60% off or more filter",
        "testName": "JFY with PCO Test w/ Two Controls v4"
}
Tell us more! How's this cohort converting vs SQ's JFY deals in the third position? 😅

Only feedback (remaining relevant) is that these deals should adhere to the third party merchant guidelines. Seems like I was promoted some CN crap w/ 37 lifetime reviews. (see the deleted post in this thread)

Hi Tinkleondabeach, thanks for spending the time investigating and writing this post. Very impressive on how much you have figured out! To answer your questions:
  1. Yes, we are in early testing phase of this new feature - we monitor millions of products online, detect price drops and share them into the community automatically. Currently we have been testing these deals, for a limited set of users, on the "Just For You" carousel on the Slickdeals landing page.
  2. Name - Yes, internally, these deals are called Product Catalog Offers. You are.....spot on! lol. I don't even know if I'm suppose to tell you that, but I want to pay respect to your detective work. We are renaming them within the next week.
  3. Vote & Comments - another thing that is happening within the next week is we are going to upgrade those deal pages with voting and commenting. That's the heart of SD, and we want to maintain that. #MayTheBestDealWin #MayBadDealsDieAnUncomfortableDeath
  4. Reposting - if you find anything you like from these deals, you are welcomed to repost them to Hot Deals. It's not straightforward right now. If there is enough interest, we are considering having a button that does that automatically for you. Sort of like a "claiming" function.
  5. Deal Selection - as I mentioned, this is still very early. To be real with you, some of these deals right now are not great. A lot of them are already expired when you get to it too. With Amazon, it might also send you to a 3rd party merchant's listing that may not meet our current Hot Deal's guidelines too. We are working hard to tune this feature, so your feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Most importantly, the goal of these deals is to be supplemental to user posted deals. Our goal is to make sure that if a community member is looking for a product, even if there wasn't a deal posted by a community member, there is a deal for them to consider, even if it may not be Front-page-worthy all the time. Once we have the algorithm nailed down, we'll be testing more of these deals in other places such as Search.

PS: You asked about how the cohort is converting on the test. I can share that, some of the metrics are pretty good, but some aren't. There is still a lot of work to do!
