I am not sure that there is a top tier brand anymore.

Bosch seems better than Samsung (and LG), but newer Bosch units have tons of issues too.

This is probably due to wrongheaded CA regulations that end up affecting our whole country. Manufacturers don't want to make a special CA product, and, since CA is such a large market, they don't want to lose it either, so they just roll CA requirements into all models.

The concept of condensation drying is poorly thought out. It is mandated now (I think) and saves energy but IMHO has eliminated the sanitize ability that we used to have on just about every cheap dishwasher because heated air was previously used to dry the dishes. Killing the bulk of germs requires temperatures over 155F for a long period of time. Now dishwashers don't really kill germs, they get smelly inside, they have to pop open automatically or they don't dry, etc.

Some of the more pricey Bosch or Miele units may still be a level above, but I don't think you will be getting 20 year or more lifespan on those either, like in the past.

Sorry, I don't have a solution to offer... just complaining.

TRUTH. Regulations typically screw with innovation by requiring things that appear to make sense but then serve to hurt customers. Reducing water use sounds good, quick dry sounds good.... until you realize that to get these things requires compromises in other areas like reliability and service life.

I recently purchased this Samsung dishwasher https://www.homedepot.com/p/Samsu.../309337448, which I chose primarily for its sleek appearance and buttonless design. So far, it has proven to be the best dishwasher I have ever owned (although I've only owned two). Upon researching reviews, I discovered that opinions are divided - some say it is the best thing since sliced bread (due to its ultra-quiet operation), while others claim theirs was broken within a week. Luckily, I seem to have gotten a good one, and I purchased a multitude of warranties to cover any potential issues that may arise before they expire.

My advice to anyone in the market for a new dishwasher is to buy whichever brand you prefer (such as Samsung, Bosch or LG), but be sure to invest in all available warranties. These modern dishwashers have complex assemblies and circuitry, which can make the repair process a real pain if something goes wrong.

Get a Bosch. 800 series if possible.
Went to buy a Samsung or LG years ago and the sales agent literally said they were junk.

been using the Bosch for 3 years now without issue.
I had a major incident with Bosch in 2018. We were a few months out of warranty and the dishwasher would not drain properly. I contacted their corporate for help, and then said I'm out of warranty and they would not help. It's that kind of customer service that got me to replace it (repairing it was going to be $300-400 on a 3 year old dishwasher) with an LG. Had a problem with the LG dishwasher and they covered it, even though it was out of warranty. Companies need to understand customers have a long memory. Why would I trust Bosch appliances again? They're not as poorly made as Samsung, but when they could have stepped up, they chose not to. Their choice.

They're not that complex. The problem is that if they're not designed/manufactured correctly and are prone to part failure because they cheaped out with suppliers, the customer is left holding the bag. Dishwashers are simple devices and even the ones with 15 cycles are not complex.

Don't do it, I just bought one and it was a lemon out of the box, also had problems returning it.

Samsung support was terrible.

Lowes has a 48 hour return.

I've had two Samsung products and both have been fairly poor in terms of quality or performance/features - I normally review the hell out of things I buy, but both purchases were rush jobs and I wasn't able to do any due diligence. Maybe it's my luck, but unless there's a Samsung product that has amazing, damn near perfect reviews, their stuff won't be high on my list, or on it at all.

It may be different where you are, but California state rulemaking requires a number of water and energy-conserving features that are tacked onto the original design or accomplished with firmware.

Samsung appliances are basura. Washers, frdges, dishwashers... All of them. They also don't honor warranty periods either and will blame you if you buy water filters from anyone but them. Awful company.
I am having luck with a stove, but all the other Samsung appliances in the kitchen have been replaced.

Not to worry,,, the fluorescent display will soon fail rendering it unusable.

And may ask - who the F still uses 30 old technology fluorescent displays.?

one guess.

Added note.

Never ever buy the lowes extra warranty.

If you never use it you are, according to the contract , to get a 30 percent cash back rebate.

Good luck getting that. 8 calls, 8 total agreements that I was eligible and the check would be mailed .

Nada - it was painfully obvious that the "agents" had been instructed to not honor the contract.
