I recently purchased this Samsung dishwasher https://www.homedepot.com/p/Samsu.../309337448, which I chose primarily for its sleek appearance and buttonless design. So far, it has proven to be the best dishwasher I have ever owned (although I've only owned two). Upon researching reviews, I discovered that opinions are divided - some say it is the best thing since sliced bread (due to its ultra-quiet operation), while others claim theirs was broken within a week. Luckily, I seem to have gotten a good one, and I purchased a multitude of warranties to cover any potential issues that may arise before they expire.

My advice to anyone in the market for a new dishwasher is to buy whichever brand you prefer (such as Samsung, Bosch or LG), but be sure to invest in all available warranties. These modern dishwashers have complex assemblies and circuitry, which can make the repair process a real pain if something goes wrong.

Costly appliances should last for decades. They are"complex" isn't a justification to sell junk.

Bought this dishwasher in Feb 2022 and loved it until it died yesterday. Only a 1 year warranty, so we'll have to pay to fix it. It's $275 for a new board, so maybe time to buy another dishwasher

Check with your credit card and see if they cover appliance items that your purchased entirely on the card. Sometimes they extend the warranty to 2 yrs.

Stay away with Samsung dishwashers. The rack supports got rusted in a year, and it's making huge noise now...

I mean I agree with you. On the other hand Samsung wants to be all things to all people so they have a lot of appliances. I mean A LOT of different models at different prices points. This shit they sell to house flippers, is being built in the same place by the same people with the same components for one that they sell for $1000? I don't know the answer.

Mine also stopped releasing. I had to get some food grade white grease to spray in/on the latch and it started working again. Worth a shot maybe?

Working well now! Thank you!

Saw this because I'm also in the market for a new dishwasher.... Mine lasted ~5 years, but the waterwall feature doesn't work, and then the control board went. $135 for me to replace it myself, and then the water wall feature still doesn't work. Their stuff is just garbage.

Pos. Motor burnt out at 6 months, warrantied and burnt out just after a year. After few weeks both times for noticeably louder and progressively washed less. I wouldn't spend $100 on it. Read other reviews with similar results

Samsung appliances are basura. Washers, frdges, dishwashers... All of them. They also don't honor warranty periods either and will blame you if you buy water filters from anyone but them. Awful company.

Totally agree. After replacing a broken Samsung dishwasher and a dryer that dies in a few years, I've decided not to buy Samsung again.

Depends on the appliance. LG washers, dryers and stoves are pretty solid.
Their refrigerator and dishwasher, not so much. (Though supposedly the fridge compressor issues are fixed in new models).
I have a LG dishwasher, which was great first 3 years. Then started making a grinding/groaning noise. Still cleans fine, but went from 48dB to probably 60 something. Seems it's ball bearings in the circulation motor that have gone bad, not an uncommon problem, and a $250 part replacement.
The fuse on the noise filter and control board are known to go out as well.

Yeah, this negates, and why I almost never pay attention to, appliance sales from Best Buy/Home Depot/Lowes. Both Sam's Club and Costco include delivery, install and haul away for free.

Just replace the circulation pump. Cost $200 for the repair. It was running for 5 yrs of no issues. Hopefully, it will last 4 more yrs...

Is lg no good?

I've had my LG appliances for 8 years. Fridge broke at 7. Dishwasher at 6, but I was able to fix it myself with a cheap part off Amazon as the drain pump was broken which was obvious to me. Still going great a couple years later. I'd consider LG mid to top tier. clothes machines still good after 8 years

Ive had this one for about a year now, it cleans everything really well, even if caked food is on pans/plates. A good lazy mans dishwasher.

It may be different where you are, but California state rulemaking requires a number of water and energy-conserving features that are tacked onto the original design or accomplished with firmware.
I'm in CA. It's less a state rule and more EPA rules that have had unintended consequences. Not much of a surprise.

That's great that at least one of their appliances hasn't detonated itself.
