I don't have dust collector either but this video shows promising results by using the cyclone. ( it sure if there is even shop vac connected. Seems like OP was only using a cyclone alone!
I missed the black Friday deal last year. This one is the best deal this year so far. I didn't want to wait and pulled the trigger. The seller is solid, I have bought from them several times.
This is the best compact size planer in the market, unless you want to cough up $2300 for a full size.
If you are in market for a planer, this is it.
A fantastic planer. Picked this same kit up from FAO in 2022 for $435 +tax and then added a shelix helical cutter head. Just make sure you open it right away and check it for damage in shipping. It is very heavy and I read that some people waited to open the box and found it was damaged after the return window.
If you have a dust collector I would also suggest this modification as well:
I think this is dead. Shows a price of $779 crossed out and says click to show price. When you click the link to show the price, it shows "$779 0% off". At checkout it was over $800. Too bad, I've been wanting this planer
They're both "lunchbox"...opposed to stationary planers.
Hahaha, I like that. It makes sense. Given each of these units approach 100 pounds, I'm happy to leave them stationary. I love the little cart for the 735. There's no way to "bend at the knees, and not your back"

I've bought 3-4 tools from them with no complaints.
