Throw away the MyQ and get this.
Why don't people like myQ? I've had mine almost 4 years and it's been rock solid.
I hate myQ and wanted to like this but it requires running wires from the opener all the way down the track and to the door for the sensor.

I have one of these and did that too, but at 10pm, then forgot about it, and a month or so later I left the door open, and at 10pm it closed and it scared the shit out of me because I thought someone managed to open my garage door.

Now I just tell it to give me a notification if I leave it open for longer than 15 minutes.

In addition to the other replies you've gotten, such as the features that have been removed after we spent money to install this device, they also added mandatory advertisements to their app. Now, the top 1/3 of screen real-estate for my garage door opener is an advertisement. I spend money to avoid advertising from as much of my life as possible. I spent money on this garage door opener. If it had ads before I bought it, I would not have purchased it.

I predict MyQ will get crappier every year until it becomes useless or requires a subscription for something you already have installed. Someone at the top has noticed that we've all got time and money invested in installing their product. So now they're in a great position to squeeze all the revenue out of it, without having to make any improvements. Eventually they'll squeeze it until it dies in the marketplace. They will move on to a new company, bragging about the revenue they "earned", while omitting the fact that the future value of the MyQ brand became a casualty along the way.

Works great but I had to get a bridge cause my opener needed to communicate to a newer radio standard so it was a little bit more tricky than just pairing this over once I got it all going

Might not be as easy once you get the meross app setup and something else holds you back

saw so many reviews saying this is an easy install and a no brainier.

Nope.

Works at the end, but only if you are lucky or technically problem solving

I dont see Amazon Key delivery available with this unit which is a feature I use with MyQ opener.
Good looking out! I would've been buying this but I do want to start using Key delivery and I don't see this system on Amazon's web page for delivery.

And it gets worse: MyQ occasionally serves ads through the notification system now. So if you want to get notified that you accidentally left your garage open, you have to deal with notification ad spam from MyQ partners.

I'm not endorsing this product, but MyQ can die in a fire.

MyQ product is garbage. Frequent disconnects to a router a foot away, won't reconnect automatically to wifi, etc. It's complete crap. It's also a mostly abandoned product, btw.

MyQ company is garbage. Taking away features (waiting for the class action lawsuit), charging for voice assistant integration, addition of ads in their crap app.

Stay far, far away. Not just to stop supporting a company full of d'bags, but the product is junk anyways.

If you really want to support a US company that's wireless, go Wyze. Meross is great though.

Have these on both garage doors, love them. 5+ years now, have only ever had to reboot / restart once.

One of my favorite features is the ability to set specific close times / durations. I have mine set to close at midnight if open, in case I forget. My neighbor has his set to close 10 minutes after open because when his kids would get home from school (alone) they would open the door via a keypad but would always neglect to close it.

I'm completely satisfied with them and would highly recommend.

Edit to add - you do have to run a cable from the device to the door itself in order to get the magnet into position to sense open / close. Not a big deal in my book but to each their own. I certainly wouldn't run them down the track for fear of cutting the wire during operation. I have mine tacked to the ceiling, nice and orderly. If you wanted to, you could likely route them through the attic to eliminate the wire from view.
Do you have two of the single ones or the one that does three doors? I am wondering if you run two separate single ones how they would show up in carplay/homekit etc.

I've had mine for several years now and I like it. Every now and then the app gets 'lost' and will not respond until I kill it and restart it. Definitely recommend.

Tasmota is great, but mostly irrelevant to this conversation.

Years ago, a cheap microcontroller called the esp8266 came out, with built in wifi. It was quickly used by tons of Chinese hardware manufacturers to make "smart" light switches, or outlets or all sorts of other stuff that was cheap and wifi. So the hardware company hosts some BS cloud site, publishes an app, and as long as they are in business, you use their app with varying degrees of spyware to control your smart device.

Tasmota came along because esp's are easy to reprogram and people who are security conscious or just want to be in control of their hardware like to hack esp's and make them more useful, with home assistant for example.

These days esp's aren't used as often, there are even cheaper, less programmable options for cheap smart devices. This isn't something you can hack with Tasmota.

All that to say, yes, Tasmota is great, and I do have an esp controlling my garage door, but it isn't something someone without previous experience just solders and programs in an afternoon, let alone hosts it securely. Modern garage doors are getting more silo'd and the simple task of opening and closing the door with your own hardware is harder than it used to be.

Installed this today, really easy setup. My garage door opener model wasn't listed as supported. I just picked a different model by the same manufacturer and kept going. Works flawlessly
