I have 3 of these and realized this really sucks when you want to review what happened.
Wyze Software always tries to upsell you on everything. Even with their premium plan you can't fast forward a recording? :smh:

I'm using 18 Wyze v2 & v3 as back up system. I don't see any real problem, but it doesn't record some events on local storage. It's totally random. That's why it can't be main system.
Maybe only use 5 of the v3's and tell us if it works.
Maybe others that have 18 cams in their home or more ... that works share their experience. To me, that sounds like a lot of v2/v3's to have going as main system. Maybe it's for business, or you have high tech gear.
p.s. QUESTION: Do you have your cams set to record continously, or only record events. Mine are all set to continuous. I NEVER set it to record event. So I NEVER lose anything from my recordings. Use Event from cloud to pick up event, then use footage from microSD to find the event and change to viewing the Expanded event before and after the event, and record to PC important stuff. Are you a newbie with wyze cams, I have been using them for years, and have learned stuff over the years.
I don't know if it's the best option out there, but I know it's costing me nothing to continue using these inexpensive cams like I have been for a few years. I just don't have complaints.
I have 8 Wyze cameras so I'm very familiar, I know what you meant. Personally, having to manually export each clip seems unreasonable, and it's solely because of their implementation and limitations.
If you only ever want to see it on the app and never expect the camera (and this micro SD) to be stolen, then sure I guess it's decent.
My cams have picked up stuff around my home that was helpful to me over the last number of years. . Watching my cat on the porch, or monitor lawn care, and deliveries from ups, fed-ex, and all types of stuff. For 20 dollars it is worth it for me and YOU too, right?
We both can get other cams if we want, so if you find something better, we both can get that, if we want. But for me, the 6 years or more, these wyze cams are great for me.
I am checking on some PRO reviewers on YOUTUBE, lots of them, and I see what is best in 2024. I just saw a video on Youtube yesterday where the reviewer compared the Wyze cam v3, v3pro, OG, and v4 models. And the v3 holds up really well. And the mic sounded pretty good. And out of those 4 wyze models, the v3 is the ONLY one that comes with cam LIGHT subscription option. It put a SMILE on my face!

Honestly I liked them before but the privacy issues and inability to roll back firmware to get on one that supported RTSP (which they used to provide and have since removed) really soured my view on them. They're the best of the cheapest, but really not the best by day

It doesn't happen as often as when I was younger. If I spot that behavior , I backtrack a little ..to be more silent. Mistakes happen.

I Installed those on several properties and home. At first I also recorded everything. But after numerous SD memory fails, I settled with events only recording mode. I have a dedicated NVR(network disconnected) for continuous recording. And I got my first Wyze in 2019? So it's 5 years.
By any chance were you using normal micro SD cards? I switched to high/max endurance cards which are meant for continuous use. Same goes for any dashcam, need the endurance cards.
Eufy Security Indoor Cam E220 (pan/tilt model) - currently $75 for a 2-pack, has been $36 individually when on sale in past.
say these things are setup and working and has a sdcard for local storage.
If the router dies (no wifi) do it continue to function in recording events? so when router comes back on I can reconnect to it and view the videos?
I just bought the new Wyze v4 it's 2K and def. better than previous versions but still not great for zooming in on distance for face or license plate numbers.

Also highly recommended to put microSD cards in them & set it to continuous recording. That way you can manually see or make your own recordings as there's a 5 min cooldown between events.
Also know that these cams are pixel based. Meaning if one set of images are different from the next set, it'll count as motion & notify you. So beware of shadows, trees moving, etc. Their AI isn't great either, so just know what you're getting into/paying for.
If you only have CamPlus Lite, these original v3's are the last model to work with it. Since v4 came out, they've been pushing a lot sales on v3's most likely getting rid of inventory, so you may want to stock up on some backup v3 cams.
