I turned on my TV today to see an add on the Home screen of Roku stating I was selected to get 40% off a Roku streaming device.

This says it was a TARGETED ad so YMMV

Roku Express 4K+ is $23.99 instead of $39.99
Roku Streaming Stick 4K is $29.99 instead of $49.99
Roku Ultra is $59.99 instead of $99.99
Free Shipping

Apparently the Ultra is on backorder. When I ordered it, I received an email stating it was on backorder and it estimated shipping at 4/16.

Is the newest model of Ultra still the 2022 model, which if I'm not mistaken, still uses the same hardware from the 2020 model in the box? Didn't it only change the remote?

I have three of the 2018 Roku Ultras and while they aren't "slow", they do take a few seconds to load apps. I do have Micro SD cards installed so it's not that it has to re-load the app. I'm just wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience with the two models, and if anyone knows if these current Ultras are still using the 2020 hardware. Google seems to suggest that is the case. Wondering if it would be worth upgrading at all aside from the rechargeable remote.
Because it only applies to their TV and has been for years. Their standalone devices are still decent, at least for now

I only jumped on it because my current Ultra doesn't do Dolby Vision. Otherwise, I have no issues with the speed.
Same here, but my account states no offer. Frown

Personally, it would be the exact opposite. I still use a harmony remote so the express would be my preferred option since it still support IR remote for direct control with the harmony. I know CEC should theoretically work with the Ultra or Stick but in my experience in my setup it seems to be a lot flakier.

Doesn't look like I qualify for this deal or I might have considered it. My several year old premier seems like it might be dying. I'm starting to get some sparkling and audio break up issues with it that always clear themselves up by a restart of the Roku. I haven't done much else to troubleshoot it yet but it's not giving an overheating message and I don't think it's the cable because I wouldn't expect a reboot to help if the issue is the cable.

Yeah, I have a similar situation, I have an older soundbar that isn't CEC compatible. I originally got the stick due to recommendations here, only to find out that I couldn't control my volume with it. I really didn't want to go to using multiple remotes again, so returned the stick and got the express instead.

Annoyingly, the Roku remote wouldn't pair with my sound bar, when my cheesy Comcast Roku equivalent was able to pair up just fine. Sadly, nice universal remotes like the Harmony are a thing of the past for the most part, but I got a cheapo universal one for like $10 which works fine for what it is. I'm not too bothered by pointing the remote at the TV.

remember when the 2018 roku ultra went on sale for $50 many years ago.. bought like 4.. they're all still getting updates.. works great.. using some for plex. dunno if the new ones hold up but the 2018 models seemed to be the last ones that were quality.

If you think they won't bring this to their TVs also your're naive. This is just the start.

With my old Roku Ultra (2018 model), I was able to use an HDMI splitter without issue, which connects to an Onkyo A/V receiver. With this one (2022 model), presumably since it uses Dolby Vision, the picture was flickering like crazy. So, I have to connect the Roku directly to the AVR instead of using an HDMI splitter.

I think it's a patent for Roku TVs only. I read an article on this the other day.

This thread is for Roku streaming devices not the actual TVs made by Roku. In that that HDMI tech is something they're bringing to the TVs they make not their streaming devices plugged up to whatever TV you already own.

I got the new Roku Ultra set up, which replaces the old Ultra (2018 model). It auto detected Dolby Vision and I have it connected to an Onkyo A/V receiver, which connects to an LG OLED TV. While watching a show on Amazon Prime Video last night, about once a minute, it would flicker and a message about "HDCP Error Detected" popped up. I went on the website it shows:
https://support.roku.com/article/208755468

The random flickering was annoying (and that message would pop up for a couple seconds before going back to the show). So, I went in Settings > Display type on the Roku and downgraded from Dolby Vision to 4k with HDR (which is what I used on my old Ultra). No more flickering, but I'm not taking advantage of Dolby. I'm using the HDMI cable that was provided in the box. Maybe I should get a better one that's thicker and gold plated? I may try that.

My 2018 Ultras are still butter smooth. I purchased one of these recently and it's faster but not by much; not a huge upgrade if you have a previous Ultra. I'd personally wait for the refresh.

Any ideas when they will do a refresh? I have an Ultra from when they first released them and have been waiting for a substantial update to their hardware. I haven't been able to find anything that says anything about updating the hardware.
