It has mixed reviews though. https://www.cafeapplian
To avoid problems with leaking, I would just refill the water tank in place and clean it on occasion, rather than removing it each time to refill it. Other people complain that the grinder stopped working after a few months. I would give it a shot if I were looking for an all-in-one semi-auto. If you do get a lemon and don't want to keep it, you have 45 days to return it, but the customer pays for return shipping (don't throw away any of the packing materials). It does come with a 2-year extended warranty for free though.
For the money, it's really impressive. The Cafe has an interesting feature. It uses an app called SmartHQ that allows you to control the volume, water temperature, and strength (I'm not sure how it does that). I could see being able to change the temperature and shot volume as handy. A huge 95 ounce water tank, low water indicator, PID temperature control, nice legit looking 58mm portafilter and tamper. It should come with four baskets, 2 pressurized, and 2 unpressurized, but I can't be sure. The owner's manual shows that it does. https://products-salsify.geappli
Also, it's not a discontinued model. It still sells for $579 on a lot of sites. At $149 there's nothing remotely comparable considering all it comes with and offers. It's an outstanding value IMO.
Note: There are 15 grind settings, not 5 as stated on BuyDig. Buy dig also has the weight of the machine as 14 lbs, it should say 24. After doing a deep dive into the specs of this machine, I think it's a great design. I wish I needed one. A lot of the complaints sound like bad luck, or user error in some cases.
Also, this model is effectively discontinued. Their current model (which is already somewhat "discontinued") was a grounds-up redesign and much better/more compact.

As someone that made the deep, deep dive into espresso during COVID, I'd say yes. I wasn't a big coffee drinker and only had Keurig pods at work. Now I went through 3 machines in the last 2 years (superauto > semiauto (BBE) > dual boiler) as I kept wanting more control and small improvements. As a similar affordable Barista Express, I'd say this will take trial and error to get right and you may waste some coffee but once you get it down, it's hard to go back to any non-espresso coffee.
That being said, you can stay as surface level as you want or go super scientific. At the very least, you'll need to sort of learn how grind size, grind weight, output volume, and pull time all kind of work together. Plenty of YouTube videos showing the basics.
Pro tip: get a scale and single dose your beans and measure output to get much more consistency.
Definitely a rabbit hole and expensive the deeper you go with very much diminishing returns but if you stick with it, I'd expect most people to appreciate the process and think it's worth the learning curve and effort.

IMO, the Cafe would be a good choice, assuming you don't receive a lemon. At $149 it's comparatively inexpensive as it's loaded with features that would normally cost hundreds more. All those buzzwords, volumetric dosing, PID temperature control, 58 mm portafilter, unpressurized baskets), are all positive. It does a lot of things right, but YMMV concerning durability.

Now I have to debate on weather I just try to warranty this thing with the 2 year warranty or send it back at a cost...
