Costcos Kirkland motor oil, produced by Warren, is also the manufacturer behind the oil for Amazon and Walmart's Supertech brand. It complies with the current API standards for motor oil. Generally, it performs comparably to most other synthetic oils unless your vehicle has specific requirements or is heavily modified.

You can safely use 5w-30 oil in vehicles designed for 5w20 or 0w20. The 20 weight oils are primarily aimed at meeting Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards rather than optimizing engine longevity. However, it's advisable not to use a 20 weight oil in a car originally designed for 30 weight oil.

A lot of vehicles use 6 quarts. My Toyota is 6.4 quarts. It is a lot easier to use 6 1 quart bottles than buying multiple 5 quart jugs.

Getting the 5qt jugs and keeping an empty 1qt bottle around to refill is the way to go.
Then I'll have to always keep a opened, half filled jug too.

If you change your own oil then that shouldn't be an issue. Always extra left over.

Mediocre oil but if your vehicle is also mediocre it's a match!

Would love to know what vehicle you have that has you feeling so superior. I'm guessing a 10 year old BMW 3 series lol

My vehicles all use over 5. I would love to use both. 1 5qt jug and one 1 qt. Then dump the old into the 5 qt. Best of both worlds

which one to get for lawn mower engine?

Most I've seen suggest 5w30. Kohlers suggest 10w30. Either would probably be okay in a lawn mower. It is best to look up your engine model for proper oil weight. I use synthetic in all of my equipment. They will start much easier with the synthetic oil.

You'd have to buy 7 quarts though

I use a LiquiMoly additive that adds 300ml.

I prefer using the 5 qt containers so I can reuse to pour in old oil. The caps on most drain pan/containers are garbage. I keep a graduated paint cup if I need a quart out. But this is just me & my 2Ā¢.

Yea what's up with that? I used my pops old drain pan container for like a decade no issues. Then I go buy a new one and its leaking, bought a second one thinking the 1st was defective and it's still ass. Know any good pans to buy?

My 93 e36 almost pushing 300k and for the last 60k I've been using Kirkland. My car doesn't burn oil at all though I almost never refill in between.

Wow nice that's impressive. That must be a fun little go kart to whip around in, enjoy it. They don't make them like they used to!

My 12pk arrived today. Brown box, inside two of the boxes you see in store. For 40 and some change shipped... not bad!

If your car takes 3.7qt, how confident are you get to the right amount if you don't have any measuring cup or some sort? A 1qt bottle would come in handy imho

So you are telling me that it's easier to measure .7 qts out of a qt versus measuring .7 qts out of a 5 qt bottle?

Point being is you still have to measureā€¦

Or are you afraid that you aren't confident enough and will end up putting in 1.3qts more (I.e entire bottle) if you use a 5 qt bottle?
