Plenty of those reviews say that the trimmers get a bit too heavy/awkwardly weighted with the 4 and 5Ah batteries and prefer the 2.5Ah battery in them for balance purposes.

Did you read my previous post stating you can't return just the battery? When I attempted to do it, I received a message "single items cannot be canceled from discounted bundles".
Since I have my account noted and they will accept a return, I plan on letting them deliver both and then try to return the battery. If the system doesn't allow me to do so, then I'll simply return both.
Also, keep in mind I received the prompts that you can't cancel a single item in a bundle but we haven't determined if we can RETURN a single item in the bundle so I plan to find out.
There's apparently a thermistor in the new battery models that may be loose from factory and will cause the battery to think it's overheating as soon as a demand is applied to it. The only way to fix it is to take the battery apart and reconnect it or send it for warranty replacement. Though some have success with dropping the battery from shoulder height onto the ground, that does nothing to make the company address the issue and could lead to other potential hazards. Again though, that's probably a vocal minority of purchasers.
I may still make the switch since my current gas push mower is over 100lbs and is a bear to use on the steep slopes I need it for, but I am reconsidering this 56V EGO vs the 80V Greenworks at Costco.

I doubt it. Lowe's shows the battery as $0.00 in cart… in my limited experience with their return process, you get exactly what is shown on the receipt for a given item, which has always matched the cart price.

My box included both the battery and charger. The box itself shows the correct model number. Interestingly, the serial number after the first 5 digits is the same for the mower, charger, and battery, likely indicating these were meant to be paired for sale. The first 5 digits indicate the product model. EGO pre-enters the first 5 digits automatically after I selected what I purchased. But of course the 5 digits are wrong for the mower. I'm waiting on hold with EGO to see if there's any way to register the warranty as is.
Edit: 1.5 hours on hold only for their office to close...
EDIT 2: They called me back the next morning and manually registered it to my EGO account.
The mower, however, is missing the 7.5 battery. The charger is there but it looks like someone stole the battery out of the box. There was tape on it when I received it. Awesome.

They directed me to EGO. Now I have to call them in the morning. FedEx should have taken a photo of it to prove the tape was clearly messed with, so hopefully EGO will make it right.
