They don't typically do sales so this is a good chance to grab something

I have had a pair in the past and feel as if they were not worth the value. The creases around the toe box eventually turned to tiny tears. The sole near the front end of the boot started to separate. And this was within 3 months. I used the boots for serving and although fashionable, weren't very durable. My solovairs have held up for years and still almost look the same.
Was a little confused what "RT3 Last" meant on the Captain or President, so did some quick digging. Apparently this is the specific foot shape mold they used sometime around June 2022 ~ Aug 2023 to improve comfort on wider feet, but gave the shoe a more bulbous toe look.
Short story is many ppl didn't like the look compared to the original more pointed shape called "True Last", which were a bit narrow for some, so the newest "Kingmaker Last" solves the issue by being wider while keeping the pointier look.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Thursday...ment_9723/

Thursday has a page on all of their Lasts: https://thursdayboots.com/pages/mens-last-guide, which even says themselves "Although not the most aesthetically pleasing, the RT3 is widely considered a well-fitting last great for long days on your feet."

Google "RT3 vs Kingmaker" for some comparison pics. Honestly, it's pretty minor difference and really all down to personal preference. Just beware what you're getting since the Warehouse Sale listings don't seem to use accurate pictures, and it's no return/final sale.
How dare they make boors for fashion and not work!

This is a good deal, I have a pair of the Cadet shoes as I don't like them being too tall. Love them. I wear them often and get compliments. They are worn in now and feel way better than when I first got them. A slightly worn in dress boot looks better too imo. If they had the cadet's on sale, I'd definitely get another pair.

I got a (now discontinued) pair of moc toe boots for backing their Kickstarter back in 2014. They've seen a lot of miles and they're still going strong, and I've done practically nothing to care for them. Assuming the quality hasn't declined over the years, I'd call this a pretty slick deal.

Anyone able to chime in on how these compare in sizing to Allen Edmonds? (I'm a 10 E in Allen Edmonds as well as the Brannock device.) Thanks.

Basically the same. I wear 11 in most dress shoes, 12 in Nike and 10.5 Allen Edmonds, though that's a little tight. Thursday I wear 10.5 as well and they fit well.

No returns or exchanges on these? Too risky, especially when their sizing recommendations are not based on any measurement standard, just some "sneaker".

President Boots in name only. i believe that honor falls on Allen Edmonds shoes, where a number of presidents wore them during inaugural speeches.

Question is...why are you buying gifts for yourself and pretending it's coming from someone else?

Seems relatively logical. I've given my wife a present by saying "I want to give you a purse, why don't you pick it out so you get exactly what you want". And she does the same at times for me with boots or coats or …. Thursday only sells online so you are guessing as sizing and color and fit and how they look. I'm not sure why this is so odd to you.

I agree, nice looking boots but that's about it.. For the cost to quality, I'll say pay a little more for something like red wing boots

Red Wings are a very different boot. They are more for work, Thursday are for fashion. And the better redwings are going to be $350, which is a lot more than these, not a little more as you claim. Allen Edmonds on sale are "a little more" and I would buy those before I would buy Thursday boots. Grant Stone has many fans, I'm not one of them, but they are worth a look I suppose and are around the same price as the RW but are a dress boot. They can be had for less when on the occasional sale.

The price on these is low for the following reasons:

Outsourced production (Mexico, I believe)

Low-grade leather -- due to a number of natural reasons, not all leather is tanned/created equally. For example, a hide may have scratches all along one side; Thursday will buy that side at a lower cost from the tannery, which is hastily chrome-tanned. Whether it ages gracefully or not is luck of the draw. Boots made of higher grade leather tend to look better with each wear, while lower grade leather tends to get worse.

Various construction shortcuts -- heel stack/midsole/insole may not be made of leather, cork filling may be replaced with foam or gel, cheap unattractive eyelets/hardware, possibility of shoddy QC, counterfeit sole designs to avoid paying sole manufacturers (e.g. their "Thursday" sole is a Dainite design.)

Edit: they do use cork filler, but the rest still stands.

Thursday boots — I've had a bad experience with them. Everything I ordered there had issues with it. The leather stank up my house and the quality did not align with the price. Beckett simonon has similar products but the quality is noticeably much higher so that's where I'm keeping my business

No returns or exchanges... I have wide feet and have no idea how these would fit. I'm a true 10.5 wide but I also wear 11's. I know leather will eventually stretch (my Cole Haan wingtips have finally stretched out) but I don't want to risk not being able to fit in the boots and being stuck with them with no returns. I do want a pair of Goodyear welt boots eventually but I need to figure out my true size before paying that much on boots.

Have had a pair of Thursday Vanguards (higher quality, USA-Made) for a couple years. They look decent, but honestly, even they are pretty shit. The non-removable foam insole collapsed almost immediately and they quickly became very uncomfortable to wear. Also super super narrow in the toe box (though I think the captains/presidents are a bit wider). Would not buy again, highly recommend saving your pennies just a little bit longer and buying something better quality (Grant Stone for example if you like their styles). You'll likely own a pair of good quality leather boots for 10+ years, another $100 is NOTHING for something that will look and feel better every single time you wear them.

Got a pair of the Casamigo collab boots. I really liked them at first, but noticed one of my boots was coming a little loose from the sole. After maybe 3 months of cumulative wear.

What really put me off from them is they have 0 warranty. At least when I looked. Googled around with my issue saw people were basically told they were SOL or got 25 dollars towards a new pair.

Not the most expensive boot and I still like them but personally I'm saving up for something of higher quality and possibly better warranty / service. Having no warranty at all makes it seem like they don't stand behind the product.
