I used some 2x to paint over some other paint and didn't sand it first. A lot of places did have lifting paint. So I would not recommend using this for painting over other paint.
It would probably look ok for a few months. I wouldn't do that.
I been thinking of buying one of those $50 paint sprayer on Amazon to paint a few things. They all require the paint to be thinned, however. Nice thing about these cans of paint is that it's ready to use and less cleanup... decisions...

I wouldn't unless you just don't use the heaters. You want something that can withstand high heat like BBQ or Engine enamel. Even though the covers themselves don't get super hot, the proximity and constant heating/cooling would likely cause this paint to bubble and flake in short order.
2X is more of a "craft" paint as opposed to a paint for durability.
This Amazon deal is, as others have stated,certainly better than the typical $7/can at the big box stores though!
