I don't think anyone was arguing that, it's better for long term data storage though I believe. Hard drives are the best for price per gb and long term reliability. AFAIK discs are as susceptible or more so.

I have a Dell D630 with a 10+ year old SSD, no issues... I only used it when I need firewire access in last a few years. My NAS is all SSD configuration for 24*365...with some consumer level SSDs such as 870 EVOs even QVOs, so far so good. NVME SSDs operate at high temperature but I did not see a failure... I had a WD white disk 14T failure which was used as download station HDD.. Painful.
Crazy how ssd prices doubled. I remember months leading up to bf, people were deciding on jumping on 2tb nvme 4.0 for 65 dollars asking is it going to go any lower? Look at where it is today.

Whatever happened to "Moore's Law" (or the popular layman interpretation of it) that memory is supposed to double for the same price every year or whatever it is.
Since early/mid 2023, it's been a year and prices have gone up 50-100%. Consumers should not accept this.
