I basically own every one of each lineups in apple and airpods are only one that I bought applecare+ with. You'll 100% will be able to get replacement within that 2 years(usually because of batteries, think they don't even have a actual way to check battery capacity of airpods anyways tho)

I just got an iPhone 15 with USB C so I was trying to figure out if I could just get a new charging case for my Gen 1 Airpod Pros so that i didn't have to remember different types of charging cables. To replace the case and get USB C it's $99 and this is just another $100 more to get the Gen 2 Airpod Pros. So I'm in for 1 and will keep my old Airpods as a backup.

You can just go to the Apple Store and have them replace it if it's under warranty. No need to pay for a Costco membership.
