No, you need the potassium, which is hard to get (and hard to digest in high doses) and the chloride, but you don't need that much salt and you certainly don't need that much sugar.

So... sugar water?

It doesn't taste sugary, more like salt water. It is foul. Cutting it with at least half water makes it somewhat drinkable

Stop spreading misinformation. Around 8g of carbohydrates per 12 fluid ounces of water is needed to activate the transport mechanism in the stomach, which increases the effectiveness of oral hydration.
The best sugar to use in this case is Dextrose. Which, this solution has 9 grams of.
If a person is dehydrated, than this beverage meets the criteria for most effective, non-intravenous, hydration option available.

Google Oral Rehydration Therapy.

If all you're looking for is the potassium, get coconut water. It's illegal to put too much potassium in per FDA guidelines.

100% true. And if you're looking for the adult version, I've always used RecoverORS. Flavor is pretty mild and has all the important points and nothing else

Ok so $2.50 all day everyday at dollar tree vs $2.39 - not very slick of a deal.
it's $1.73 per bottle with a 15% subscribe & save discount and i get it delivered for free instead of having to make a trip to dollar tree

not to mention this is name brand instead of some generic version i've never heard of that has artificial sweeteners and colors added to it

The Advanced version that's Strawberry Lemonade flavored was (and probably still is) around the price with same $8 coupon. Got it a few days ago, not the best tasting but tolerable.
