Yeah, I don't want to be tied to T-Mobile for 2 more years either. I want to switch to Visible and be able to add the watch for free.
I think i'm going to pull the trigger and buy from the Exchange for $729 with no tax. I might add it to my t-mobile for $5 if they will let me. But don't want to pay more than that on top of the $100 for 2 lines.

If I remember the fine print correctly at T-Mobile it indicates you have to be on the $15.00 a month watch plan. I'm currently on the $5 the month plan. Personally don't need unlimited and extras so over time it would be a bad deal in my use case.
Got mine today and it is practically new. Authentic Ocean band and charging puck. Watch still has nine months left on Apple limited warranty. No issues pairing or activating with my carrier. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this seller again, great experience.
I love Apple products but after owning an older version of the Apple Watch I don't think I'll go back. I got myself a Zeblaze Stratos 3 last year and while it's some Chinese brand I've never heard of the specs are really nice. Battery that lasts for days, oled always on display that looks great even in the sun, gps, a bunch of sensors and a more traditional round design.
All for $30… I'd love the Ultra but is it really worth the 15x price difference? I've had my Chinese watch for almost a year now, still looks and works great

If that no name brand fits your use case awesome! I think a lot of us could save a lot of money by assessing what we really need and buying accordingly.
However, many of us on this site love shiny gadgets with lots of tech (whether Apple, Samsung, Android, PC, Linux, etc)… so as long as we're saving money, that's the goal.
Whether or not we use all the features… that's a different story 😅😅😅😅

Agreed. Don't get me wrong, I have tried leaving the Apple ecosystem many times but it is the most polished one out there so I don't see myself changing any time soon. That said when it comes to watches, I think Apple is overpriced for what we get.
Biggest draw to brand name watches is the consistency. Apple, Samsung, etc, are all good.
At the same time there is a million Chinese brand watches out there and only a handful seem to be well made so it's not as simple as going on Amazon and buying one. You have to look at reviews and do some leg work before finding something that fits your use case.
Received mine today, includes a cheap knock off band and a generic USB C watch charger. It's braided but a lot thinner than a real one. Watch looks good, no marks that I could see.
