Lol. Now I know you are just messing with me by throwing a random paper and not actually saying anything. Good one. You got me there.
I have an old hp officejet pro 8600 that uses the cheap third party ink. Its reliable and works but refuses to work on my ASUS WiFi 6 router. So I have it set as a AC router and everything works good and we have no problems not using WiFi 6 around here. I will gladly forgo WiFi 6 as long as that printer keeps working and I don't have to deal with HPs barbaric printer ink moneygrab scam business model lol
By this argument, you wouldn't be able to upgrade to Wifi 7 either. Because SON (self-organizing network) is on and majority of IOT devices like printers and cameras don't support SON networks and need to be off in order to connect with wifi 6 routers. What's worse, you wouldn't have a huge benefit on WIFI 7 until you have MLO (Multi-Link Operation) on that runs the different bands and channels concurrently and is the main feature of Wifi 7.
I ended up returning it and bought the Asus AX88U Pro and the range is night and day even on the 2.5 and 5 compared to the tplink. The wifi 7 was borderline useless as it only connected while in front of it.
The app is very plain but has everything I need. I bought this because the Eeros that comes with my internet plan kept dropping cameras and smart lights from its 2.4ghz band and always seems to be struggling, getting very warm too. The app was nice looking and polished but what good is it if some of your devices can't hang onto the signal?
The new archer be550 is in the same spot as the Eeros and has no trouble. All devices have a nice strong connection and haven't dropped since I got it.
I set up the openvpn server on it last tonight so today I'm at work and while it's connected it's very slow. Not sure what's going on there since I have 1gb down and 60MB up I should at least be able to stream YouTube. I'll have to look at that more.
While the web page it hosts and the app are plain and clunky they do what they say and respond quickly. I'm happy with that.
I will say my shiny new laptop with soldered mediatek 7922 cannot see the 6ghz band. I've tried everything but the internet is full of people with the same complaint. My older laptop with m.2 Wi-Fi had a Qualcomm AC in it I swapped it for an intel 210 and it couldn't see the 6ghz band either. Finally after trying several drivers someone mentioned a certain version and now it works great. I'll probably end up getting a wifi 6e or 7 adapter for the usb c port on my Lenovo.
To summarize this router does everything it says it does and has great coverage on all 3 bands but the software is not what we're used to in 2024.
1) You are paying the early adopter fees.
2) Very few clients support Wifi 7.
3) Larger footprint and power draw compared to 6/6E riders since they need to accommodate larger channel widths
4) Speed benefits over Wifi 6E are only going to be effective if you already have multi gig internet which very few people have since majority of households still get internet with cable.
Amen. Bad boy!
This is what I do all day long is freelance network engineer and Wi-Fi. 6E is so far behind schedule. It's crazy. We're not going to see Wi-Fi 7:00 until some of those illegals start showing up at their court hearings in 2030
Bear in mind we need Wi-Fi 7 devices and just because your smartphone has Wi-Fi 7 doesn't mean anything else does. Your eBay's not going to blow dry your rear end until your e-bidet is Wi-Fi 7 compliant so I don't want to hear iot complaints...lol...
Personally, I've had fantastic experience with the TP link x75s they're hyper stable, good build quality, And on a 1 gig down service I can constantly pull 860 from 1 m away wirelessly (Off-Peak)
Whatever the Wi-Fi standard we're on subtract one to buy your router..... I'm tempted to buy it, but I don't want to have backwards compatibility problems between 7 and 6E. There's really not that much difference in bandwidth when you start getting above Wi-Fi 6. There is and there isn't.
Bottom line why would anyone roll out Wi-Fi 7 devices except for smartphones first and then etc. And there's just not enough connected devices out there to warrant selling Wi-Fi seven routers. This is the problem we're facing until we still get into the iot more so.
Wow! You hit every single point perfectly!
Wi-Fi 7. Ought to be adopted by the time the first illegals reach their hearings... that should be sometime in 2028...6E for the win and my particular favorite is the tp-link x7 5. Let's not get all excited here and spend up that much to get that little extra bandwidth.
Asking out of ignorance here. What would be other type Wi-Fi? 7. Compliant devices such as security systems etc. I can't think someone putting a Wi-Fi. 7. Transceiver in a device that costs less than a couple hundred dollars.... Have the bandwidth on the channels on the 60 I think are twice as wide as the six so just grab a 6E. You'll be good for a couple of years. Take a look at the tp-link x75 that seems to be the sweet spot of being able to rip 860 down out of a thousand. If you need more than a thousand, no you don't please delineate want and need. Anyway sir, thank you for writing that up. That was very succinct. Obviously I don't have the brevity you do but you nailed it Grand slam out of the park Wi-Fi 7 in 2030!
