You are comparing apples to oranges. These pots are 18" x 18" x 18". You are never ever going to find HD and Lowes selling plants on clearance with a pot that size for "for $1-7". But even if you could, their pots would be thin and flimsy, and unlikely to have rims, making them difficult to move around. In contrast, these pots are new, appear robust and rigid, and have rims which makes life a lot easier if you need to lift them

Some nurseries in my area (South Florida) do sell used pots of this size with rims, but I'm not sure that they would be any cheaper or better than this offer.
