I notice with all these Walmart deals, if there's none in your local store then it's going to be regular price. I snagged Diablo 4 the other day, but that's only because it was available for pickup. Not available in store means their online retailer takes over and charges you regular price.

most physical media (not all) isn't really the game anymore anyway. you still have to download the entire game and updates from the store and then put the disc/cartridge in to act as a key to play. there's almost zero games that you can play offline from a disc any more. everything has to ping a server.
content creators (game makers, authors, etc) HATE the secondary market because everyone makes money on it but them.
Unfortunately, it's definitely on its way out and it's sad.
Make sure you're looking at the online order, not in store to get the $5. Walmart's been super weird about games and price matches lately. I tried to get a game in store price matched to the same one that was sold and shipped by Walmart and $20 cheaper and they wouldn't do it. SO that being said, make sure your fulfillment is right to get the $5 price.
I'm not surprised Walmart was always had a deal about not competing with its self.years ago online had a product cheaper and I went into the store to price match it they wouldn't do so the sells person told me to order online and price match it in store so 15 min later I picked it up.
ordered this and another item to get free shipping then cancelled the second item. it's silly that there are copies at my local.store but they are $14 for pickup instead of $5.
I'm able to find stores that have it for $5, I switch to shipping and it shows as $5 in cart, but when I go to complete checkout it says the item is unavailable. Anyone else experiencing this?
Try changing your default pickup store to any other surrounding Walmart stores within your area. This may help to show the $5 price for shipping or pickup.
Typically with my Walmart+ a delivery person (maybe Uber / DoorDash) ends up picking up the order from one of the local Walmart stores and just deliveries it to my house. I think if it's within a certain amount of miles from your house it will be available to you for shipping with Walmart+. Try several stores on the website.
