When this router came out, it was bug heaven, until the community ironed things out with merlin. And you always want to buy the most popular asus model, because it has by far the most merlin users fixing bugs. In comparison, the biggest-fastest-routers, king spiders, don't get nearly as much support as the leaner pound for pound champs like the AC86u and AX86u. Go 1 model higher, ac87u, barely anyone bought those.
When we switch to 7 in about 5-10 years, we should probably buy the WIFI7 - 86u.

Do your clients support WiFi 7? What's the benefit of WiFi 7 ?

If you want range then mesh or extenders will help; no amount of higher tier routers will help cause antenna is still same size until you boost it with 3 foot long ones

Our beach condo is basically one long hallway (Front door common room & kitchen->bedroom1->bedroom2->bedroom3) and the cable connection comes in right near the front door. We had been using two of those old Asus T-Mobile AC1900 that were connected by powerline ethernet adapters, one in the front room and one in last bedroom at the back door. It's an old condo built back in the 70s so who knows what's in the walls, but one AC1900 wasn't enough to reach the back bedroom.
Something happened and powerline no longer worked when we opened the condo this year.
The plan we have only offers like 200 down and 10 up, so it seems like overkill to get anything that pushes higher bandwidth. It's the coverage we really need. I just worry something more economical like the TP-Link Deco S4 wouldn't be strong enough to give that back bedroom a reasonable signal...
