I loved the prequel to this, and this one started off great - just like the first game, but with better graphics, more abilities, and a bigger map. But halfway through it became a slog. At least, I assume halfway, because I got bored and never bothered to finished.
Games are getting too long. I understand why. Because when you pay $60 to $70 for a new title, you want to get your money's worth. But when they're throwing in a bunch of filler to pad the gameplay it stops being fun.
If they could tell the full story in 12-15 hours instead of 25-30, it would be a much more taught, cohesive, and enjoyable experience IMO.
Many unknown variables but 15 vs 30 hrs doesn't even seem like a big jump in time lol. Liking the lore I think really helps with the immersion though.
I wholeheartedly disagree with those complaining about this game. The first was awesome and this one is even better. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but just thought I'd throw in mine so those tempted to buy the game won't think that this game being a step down from the last or worse than an AC game is the consensus. Combat is awesome, story is great, characters are very well done and developed! This is honestly one of the best games I've played in a long time!
Yeah, don't do it. The first was 1000x times better than this one. I loved the first and was counting the days before this one came out, and just like the other reviewer, I might have gotten halfway through and I stopped playing it. I played AC Valhalla instead and thought it was way better. This wasn't worth the time and just became tedious and monotonous.
Complaining about a game being tedious and monotonous, then following it up with saying you jumped ship to any assassin's creed post black flag is just *chefs kiss*

I feel the same way. I couldn't put the first one down but with the 2nd I feel like it was a chore to pick back up. So much walking and talking and Kratos just didn't have that "God of War" feel. Also, the story of Atreus is cool and all but I just hate playing as him I want to be smashing skulls as Kratos not pew pewing as a little boy with a bow.
I went to my local Walmart and saw they had this on sale was at $20 for PS4 but they put the PS5 in the same slot. I grab one and talk to customer service, and they nicely granted me for $20 and then removed all the PS5 versions from that slot.

Yep I remember saving $69.99 USD for chrono trigger. A summer of washing my parent's van
