Just bought the laptop. Yes, it does charge over the usb-c port, as you would expect for thunderbolt. Not too much bloat on the windows install. Just mcafee and myasus (if you count myasus as bloat). Connected to my triple monitor setup via docking stations seamlessly. Speakers sound pretty decent. Can't comment on hinge quality cause don't know how to assess that.
Cons
1. Heavy – Especially compared to my dell Inspiron 13 5310 (I know that's a slightly smaller laptop but still the weight difference is massive)
2. Only 1 thunderbolt 4 port
3. Touchscreen not the greatest imo. I was trying to read a manga by swiping using the touchscreen and so many missed swipes. Unusable for swiping to read manga like an iPad (let me know if there is a fix for this)

Overall, very few laptops at this price point come with thunderbolt, which I need to connect to my monitors. So even though I am dis-appointed with the touchscreen, I plan to keep it.
What if MS allowed you to switch out of S and into Windows 11 Home for free and it took less than 30 seconds?

Notebookcheck doesn't have samples for the 1220p but they suggest it should be close to a 1240U.

If they lower to $239 at my MC I'll go get one to play around with.
I've had to change the battery inside the motile twice now due to the battery bulging problem. My motile is plugged in most of the time so it remained mostly charged at 100% constantly, which kinda destroy the battery after a while. I am hoping the asus will have charge limit to 80%...

Yes I can verify that it does have the option to limit charge to 80%

Yes I agree, the battery so far has been disappointing.

I reviewed the battery report and found that the capacity is 50,015 mWh, which is average compared to similar models. However, after testing it for a few more days, I noticed that the battery life is disappointingly short. Since I primarily use my laptop outdoors, I'm still undecided whether to keep it.

Just picked this up at MC. Seems to be a great deal for the money so far. Liking the screen, keyboard, usb-c charging.

I miss having the LAN port and the microSD slot in the motile. Can do without LAN but still would like microSD reader in all laptops

What version of HDMI?
2.1 But can only 4K60hz per intel spec sheet for i3-1220p cpu

Quote from MrShawn :
Is this i3 good or something? Last time I was in the game you only needed over 8gb ram for video editing or other engineering/production software . An that always was cpu dependant. Also gaming too but you cant seriously game on a laptop an i dont see a gfx card mentioned (also important in engineering software; last I checked decades later still not used in media).

I mean for a web browser or something I would buy this over a dell cause the audio jacks might not be disabled by Dell. But I don't think you gonna need over 8g ram unless you need a heavy duty workhorse. The ram is just where programs in use an maybe files are stored after accessing the hdd. So if not working with proggies that are loading up something like 32gb of world map, building architect files, games, edited movies. It's kinda moot to upgrade it. Raw cpu speed is what's needed for everything. An specially what basic computing sees.

Quote from shapesyay :
anyone know if this supports usb-c charging (I hate that this is something that is not an easy standard to know off spec sheets)
usb-c with Displayport and PowerDelivery

Quote from SlickGalley2825 :
I just bought one this weekend. There is some noticeable light bleed at the corners, I would say the screen quality is just okay. Not the worst ive seen. Fan noise has been minimal so far.
mine also has light bleed ;(

Quote from kui :
I just got my hands on the laptop today. The display meets expectations for its price range (300), and the build quality is impressive. However, one drawback I've noticed is its battery life, which falls noticeably short compared to others in its class. This may be attributed to the P-series CPU.
Battery life is like 5-6 hr of video watching.

I'm in the same boat as you. I went from an 8th gen i5 with 13 hours of battery to this Asus that so far is only getting me about 6 hours of battery life. I was hoping for 10 hours. Do you think it's the cpu or is it that this model is just not efficient? I'm really torn on what to do everything else is very good for this price

I don't believe it's defective. After comparing it with my daughter's laptop, which has a 15W (i3-1315u) processor and a 250 nits brightness screen, I noticed its battery usage hours are almost double. I suspect this is due to differences in the CPU and LCD brightness. (Asus laptop having a 28W processor and a 300 nits brightness screen)

I also get 6hr from a full charge. When the battery gets low the laptop also stutters. I made sure battery saver wasn't enabled. My old laptop with similar battery specs lasted longer but is running windows 10.

I installed windows 10 on the laptop and I'm still getting about 6 hours of battery life. I'm leaning towards returning it

Bummer I was thinking about trying this. I'm thinking the same about sending it back. It had great first impressions.
