Anyone able to provide feedback about usage in table lamps, in particular downward light performance?

It is a traditional a15 bulb It's not really a directional light source, the bulb part that's colored in the picture is where all the light comes out (more or less equally)

I had these in my triple lamp that faces downwards and it worked like another standard lightbulb.

It works like any other normal LED bulb. It's just color selectable.

I have a few of these. No problems generally, but I wouldn't use them in a completely enclosed fixture. The white base part of the bulb gets very hot. Like surprisingly hot at 100% brightness. I see measurements in the 140f ranges.
I've found lowering their brightness level from 100% to 85-90% reduces the heat enough that I think it's probably ok. With that said, I'd avoid using those In something fully enclosed as I wouldn't be surprised if it degrades itself faster than normal, due to excessive heat levels.

I use these integrated with Alexa and I have a lot more problems with them than I do with my Kasa smart switches. They constantly disappear from the app, report and incorrect state, or don't respond to Alexa.

FYI, these 800 lumen bulbs are not very bright. I have many of the 1000 lumen model and I still wish they were brighter.

Same here, The last time they were on sale I read a similar comment and picked up a set of the 1000 lumen bulbs. They're fine, but they could be brighter. The colors are dazzling and my kiddo has tons of fun with it.

Connectivity-wise, they work with my Google home devices 100% of the time, far better than my previous smart bulbs (C by GE, which I can only assume stands for...well, you know.).

I'd definitely recommend these.

Kind of important to note: If you scroll down on the Amazon listing you'll see there is a "newer" version of these, they call them "Tapo" instead of "Kasa". It uses a separate app for setup and management. You can integrate your Kasa bulbs into the Tapo infrastructure...however once you add Tapo stuff to your TP-Link account it will mess up all of your Google Home stuff. I had to go through and redo all of my custom actions because it started only controlling the new Tapo blubs.

Once I spent the time and went into Google Home and removed and reconfigured everything it's been fine...just know that I'm not sure how much longer you'll be able to get Kasa bulbs (I didn't look into whether or not it's actually a replacement or just another option from TP-Link) so worth knowing that even if you stay in-brand after these die, you'll have to redo a lot of Google Home stuff to get things back to normal just replacing one bulb.

On TP-Link website it says they have no plans to discontinue in US, but who knows..

How does Tapo compare to Kasa, in your experience? Any decrease in quality in the newer bulb?

I like kasa's app. I feel dumb for stocking up on no name bulbs from walmart awhile ago.

Can these be used outdoors for front lights? They shouldn't get wet. Just want some cheap color lights for the front!
