I have never used the numeric keypad ever. I have been using computers since the early 80s.
I am a software guy. Maybe people who use Excel all day need them? To me, I prefer keyboards without numeric keypads, otherwise I am wasting deskspace.

Same. When coding, I don't use a numpad at all. When I'm putting together spreadsheets/trackers/etc, I have a separate numpad that I pull out so that I'm not wasting desk space.
