When will a nice backlit keyboard be available for HTPC use?
I think this keyboard is discontinued, although its successor N9Z-00002 is basically the same. OK price if you need it. The similar Logitech K400 Plus goes on sale for $20-$21
YMMV and mine might just be a lemon, but I cannot stand the trackpad on my K400 Plus. Sensitivity seems to vary across the pad and it frequently requires turning on and off to get it to respond to tap clicks.

YMMV and mine might just be a lemon, but I cannot stand the trackpad on my K400 Plus. Sensitivity seems to vary across the pad and it frequently requires turning on and off to get it to respond to tap clicks.

Got the k400+ on the recent woot sale. It does bug me that all the keys are mushy and I agree the touchpad has a sensitivity issue.

Can anyone compare this to the Logitech K400?

Any feedback on the track pad? I got a Logitech version of this and the track pad is so bad

I haven't had those issues, but the trackpad physical button location bothers me. I frequently either tap too low on the hard plastic or click the wrong buttons above the trackpad. Thinking about switching to a smaller Rii keyboard.

I don't LOVE my K400 Plus, but I never need to power it off/on to get it to work again. Sounds like you have a bad unit or maybe some wireless interference? We used to have an issue where we would be typing and nothing would pop up on the screen. We would lift the keyboard off our lap and all the letters would magically start typing. I had to run a usb extension under our couch to get the adapter closer to us. Maybe something along those lines?

Regarding this keyboard, I am curious about it. It doesn't look much different than the K400 though so I'm not sure. Anyone have experience with both?

No Bluetooth, USB dongle so really kills the deal. Why would you want a compact combo keyboard and still need a dongle, eliminates a lot of usage for home entertainment/fire sticks. 👎🏻

I wrote about it last time this deal popped up. (btw, that deal is still live if you prefer to buy through eBay)

Apparently, it's forgettable, because I initially forgot I had bought one back in 2014. Because, I'm always looking for a viable alternative to the K400 but always end up back with it.

The main advantages of the K400 are the unifying receiver (which I understand the newer models don't even have!), that they're cheap, frequently on sale, and ubiquitous (so replacement is easy).

The MS AOI isn't really better in any regard (maybe styling?). I pawned it off on the office staff. IIRC, it had a temperamental sleep/hibernate/wake behavior intending to save battery but frustrating our secretary who couldn't get used to having the first few keystrokes not register. Shortly thereafter it was relegated to e-waste.

I have had 2 k400, and now 2 k400+ I use for media pcs... I bought this keyboard a few years back and it's a huge improvement for typing. Track pad is about the same as the k400+. I'm tempted to pick up a second at this price.
