Kizer Laconic Sidekick Liner Lock Knife Black G-10 3" Satin Blade in 9Cr18MoV $19.99 w/FREE SHIPPING @ BLADEHQ [bladehq.com]

Sidekick is OOS at the moment, don't know if it will come in back or not. Thanks to ponagathos for the heads up!

Same $19.99 w/free shipping sale is on for the Kizer Laconic Cliff Liner Lock Knife Black G-10 (3.50" Satin) [bladehq.com] which I personally like even more. Thanks to momotaro for the heads up on that deal!

Looks like a good EDC from a good brand at a good price. I've got a Civivi in the same 9Cr18MoV stainless steel and it holds and edge very well and punches above it's budget price. Very corrosion resistant. 3" blade is enough for most tasks without being scary or illegal in some places.

2oz! That's Bugout light. It's very vanilla but if you just need a decent light weight knife with great action this will do it

Actually a great deal for a basic knife from a quality maker.

Nice deal. Not my favorite steel, but no complaints for the price!

Heck, at $20 each I think I will grab both models. I have not tried any of the newer budget knives from Kizer but I'm sure they are a great value at these prices.

Is this blade/steel good for use around salt water? Good rust resistance for salt water fishing?

Nice find! I like the style of the Cliff better than I do the Sidekick. And a 3.5" blade is more to my liking. In4one. Are you sure you don't want to start your own thread on it? I think this is a better deal than the one I found, if you like larger blades.

If you'd like, you can just add it to your OP.
I ended up getting both. Smilie

I'd say it's ok for use AROUND saltwater, if you rinse, clean and dry afterwards. The only knives I like to use when I dive, cut fish or submerge in saltwater is one that is actually designed to be used that way. I'd have no problem using this to cut line and such above water, but I don't like using any pocket knife for the dirty jobs involved with fishing. I've got J. Marttiini fillet knife [amazon.com] that is perfect for those tasks. And for $16 you won't take chances or stink up your EDC knife. Super stainless steels like X30 Cr13 (I've got a wonderful produce knife in this steel) and H1 are wonderful for around saltwater. Here is a good article on knife steels [knifeinformer.com] that will show you the relative corrosion resistance of many knife steels.

Thanks! I was actually in the market for a filet knife so I'll pick that one up.

Any recommendations for similar rust/corrosion resistance in a foldable pocket knife form factor?
