This FC13 is a flood type. However, SFT40 has a longer throw, thus more focused beam in the center and less spread, compared to XHP50.2. It's hard to beat at this clearance price.

If you are looking for a brighter wider beam for closer task, then go with the XHP50.2 emitter. As for the light temperature, 5000k is neutral white but the center will have a faint greenish-yellowish tint. 6000k will be more white with a bluish tint. The SFT40 emitter will provide the most tint free white but not as much near beam spread/brightness as the XHP50.2 emitter.

One thing they missed on the exterior manufacturing is the emitter/switch section and the body tube (mid-section) does not align like the photo shown. The body tube flat section does not lineup perfectly with the button as shown on the display photo. This can be accomplished if the threading is done consistently on the same location during production. (photos attached). Anyone that has one that aligns perfectly has a winner. You got to be really happy.
If anyone is looking for a compact but a powerful thrower for its size, take a look at the Wurkkos TS11. It uses a compact 18350 battery but if you get a long tube ($2.50), you can convert the light to take the longer lasting and the most common 18650 battery. The price is a little more but if you like a little powerful thrower, you will love it. Design is simple, clean, interesting with functional details. Anodized orange finish with black RGB button looks stunning.
Bonus: TS11 will also allow you to emit various RGB color light in advance mode. There are two modes in Anduril 2 UI - simple and advanced.

18350 battery > 350 = 35mm
18650 battery > 650 = 65mm
If you're ordering just the batteries, you do not have to use the Wurkkos brand as they are not better or cheaper than the reputable brands. As long as they are a good brand with the right specs, they should perform as good or better.
A few recommendations:
• 18650 should be rated 3000mAh or higher
• 18650 3C and not 1C
• Brands: LG, Molicel, Murata, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony and there are few others not mentioned

If you are needing turbo mode for extended time, then you should find another light with higher output. For camping, dark trail walking/biking, around home, every day carry, etc, this light settings should work fine for most situations.
In critical conditions, having a backup light is a must no matter how powerful or how good the light is. Never go on a dark trail hike alone without a backup light and communication.

The best 18650's batteries for a light like this are Molicel P28B's, which are 2800mAh. The cheap driver on this light will perform at its brightest with high drain batteries. The new Molicel P30B's may be even better (still testing). As a general rule, flashlight enthusiasts prefer increased brightness over battery capacity. High drain batteries offer lower capacity as the trade-off for their flashlight "hot rod" capabilities. The OEM Wurkkos batteries are made by Lishen, and are decent, but far from great.
