I have a different set, but same idea. They keep away the static and don't add any scent but when you have them in the dryer, you can hear them bonk around the whole time the dryer is going.
A laundromat near me just provides tennis balls for the same purpose.
Having 2 dry balls can last most a lifetimeโฆ
I started with two plastic ones and then added six wool ones. Had them around 6-7 years. Haven't used a dryer sheet since. The one rayon shirt might come out a little clingy if mixed with jeans, but otherwise no issues. They can be loud with some loads, but no worse than the zipper hitting the drum loud.
