Its not exactly apples to apples.

Phillips is a super automattic.
This is a semi automatic.

The main difference is that it will auto froth the milk for you.

The breville does but you technically need to fill the cup each time. Also breville allows you to manually froth if you wish.

I have the breville, and we had a saeco Incanto (which is a super auto similar to the phillips) before.

I believe our saeco actually broke after about a year. Theres definitely more parts obviously.

My big take away was that you constantly had to clean out the milk container which easily got pretty nasty, you can put the container in the fridge but still.
Also we drink large coffees, yeti cups etc the milk container often had to be refilled every morning.

The super required more cleaning cycles and such naturally. I dont recall exactly, but it just wasnt nearly as convenient as youd hope for. Not to mention it broke.

The breville requires a little trial and error to set up.

As someone else stated, i bought an extension for the portafilter, dosing funnel its called. To help keep the grinds in.

I also bought a better tamper, bc im a noob and it helps me get the pressure right.

The breville is close to fully auto,
Cleaning and such is far less common and pretty easy.

Its been pretty reliable and makes some great coffee.

Thanks, this is good to know. My ex has the Bambino Plus and I loved that thing. I haven't tried espresso from a Philips before, so maybe I will just stick with what I know.

I talked with a big retail comp representetive before. She said Breville wants to discount prices at the same time in every place where they sell products.

I have this machine and I love it! Bought it for my wife a few years ago…takes a minute to dial in but once you do, it's great. I bought a different tamper for better consistency and a plastic piece for the portafter that makes it longer so coffee grounds don't spill over.

I have had a Barista Express for a couple months now and to be honest I kind of wish I had something like the Phillips instead. I think I would use it more.

I just got back from Spain and LOVED the cafe con leche there. I have no idea what I need to make it in the US...I'm using kcups and they suck compared. I do know cafe con leche is half espresso and half hot milk. Is this the machine I need to replicate what I got in Spain. Thanks in advance for your help.

It seems that way. It seems like most of it is drop shipped.

Breville machines are solid. I got the Pro which is a step up from Express, but unsure how it compares to the Touch.

I use it almost every day. Only days I don't are when I wake up way before the rest of the family and I just take pre-workout those days.

I did buy a calibrated tamper and a WDT tool along with a kitchen scale. The scale is essential for dialing it in. Plenty of videos on YouTube to help dial it in.

I nearly gag on k-cup coffee now. Tastes awful compared to an Americano off of my Breville!

Have the breville barista pro and it's amazing. We got it on a SD which was a couple hundred cheaper than the touch. The machine is incredible and held up well over the last 1.5 years. My cleaning can be better but the coffee it produces is way better than Starbucks or my local chain.

It takes a substantial amount of time to learn everything and get it where you want it, but when you do you can make a double shot latte in under 5 mins
