No they seem about 30% higher than the most recent refurb sale.

Can those model numbers be any more confusing? Q5 and Q7 with all those suffixes basically make the numbers useless. Guess the more expensive one is the one with more features.

Yep, just bought the s8 pro Ultra 8 days ago during the actual sale for $1000 and it's $1400 now which is the normal price.

Yeah, Roborock's naming scheme gets pretty long. There's this: https://global.roborock.com/pages/help-me-choose

And https://smartrobotreviews.com/s/r...son-chart/

From a Reddit post:

"S,Q, and E" are the designated letters for the series of vacuums. Generally the S series is their higher end line of robots, with the Q series being their more affordable mid-range models, with E being their cheapest option.
"Max" is usually an updated version of that specific model, it may have small upgrades like better suction or something compared to the non max version.
"MaxV" is the designation for the Smart AI powered Object Detection robots. S6MaxV is their first model. The S7MaxV is the new second model.
"+ and Ultra" are designations of the type of docks available or that come with the machine. + Docks are dry dust empty docks only. Ultra is wet and dry docks that empty the dust canister and wash the mop.
They are also generally found in order from cheapest/least advanced to expensive/most advanced.
The Q line starts with the Q5/5+, then the Q7/7+. Q5 is a more basic dry only vacuum, available with a self empty bin. The Q7 is a vacuum that adds basic mop capabilities and it also has slightly stronger suction. Most recently, the now top-of-the-Q-range model is the Q Revo. It has updated suction, basic object avoidance, and a full dock that cleans the mops and empties the robot. The slight exception here is that it uses two spinning mops vs. the vibrating pad mop on the S series. I believe the reason it's not called or considered an Ultra dock, is that it is not considered fully self cleaning.
S7/S7+: is their old flagship. S7MaxV/S7MaxV Ultra: Is their upgraded S7 model with more suction and AI Object Detection, with the ultra being the mop cleaning dock.
S8/S8+: Is their newest robot, with more suction, dual brush rollers, and better mopping. The S8Max Ultra follows the same upgrading. It's the S8 with additional features, hence the addition of Max, in this case the dual roller can be lifted when mopping and it gets the ultra self clean dock.

Can someone recommend me which model to get?

I really just want a vacuum, no mop, doesn't need the self empty.
Obstacle avoidance would be awesome (for kid toys) but not that important.

What do you like about the S8 Pro Ultra? I recently got the Q Revo from Costco and loved it, but wondering if I was missing out on anything not paying more for their flagship model.

I have the Q5+ which is vacuum only and has self empty. I bought a refurb unit last fall for $336. I've cleaned 80,000 square feet since then and have had nearly no issues. But it doesn't have obstacle avoidance, so it wouldn't do great with your kid's toys. Definitely does the best with a picked up floor. You could get the Q5. No + means no self empty dock.

Since you say you don't need self emptying (honestly I'd reconsider this if you can…it makes the vacuum so much more hands off), maybe an S7 or S8? And just don't attach the mop. Those can be had around $300 or under on sale and certified refurbished. They have obstacle avoidance where the Q5 just has basic LIDAR to slow down before using its bumper.

There have been so many deals lately, it's kind of hard what to say about robot vacuum prices right now. Dreame, Roborock, Eufy, etc. I'm glad I've had mine, but I'm looking forward to getting a really fancy once eventually. Or a two year old model for fairly cheap.

I just bought a NARWAL Freo X Plus. The mapping is not as good as Roborock (I've owned a Roborock S4 for 4 years). You cannot do Pin and Go. You cannot do remote control. You cannot interrupt whatever it's doing to send it to do something else.

When I mean the mapping is not good, I mean it merges rooms into one big room that can become difficult if not impossible to divide properly.

Been debating robo-vacs for a while. Have two big fluffy dogs and mostly hardwood floors. I currently have a low-end Wyze and the single roller gets jammed with dog hair after two passes. Does the double roller handle dog hair better? Any other recs to look at? Self-empty is nice but I need something that won't get tangled with dog hair as easily, otherwise, it defeats the purpose of self-emptying.
