Do your research before you buy. They don't last and I am one of the victim. My unit stopped collecting water less than two years. I only used it in winter so basically one season.

Well there is a 2 year parts and labor warranty included says the description... And it seems that per return policy it is not considered an electronics item and thus is eligible for the 100% Costco guarantee.... Someone correct me if I'm wrong. And don't these things regularly die kind of quickly anyway if used 24/7? I know one I have just did that's why I just bought this

I am rolling the dice and getting one of these! Hoping for the best with Hisense. Looks like there are no standout brands for reliability so going for it

Exactly... They are made to be disposable after a couple of years, if lucky, that's why they are so cheap. Think mine came today... I'm sure it'll be excellent for a while then turn to crap at which time I'll test out the Costco guarantee...

I bought it's older brother, the 50pt version, just shy of 2 years ago from Costco. It stopped working, likely ~4 to 6 months ago, so it lasted less than 1.5yrs The unit still powered on, pretended to work, even collected some water albeit significantly reduced capacity, but it was short cycling and staying on nearly 24/7 guzzling electricity with very little actual dehumidification. I've noticed my electricity bill has been ~$20-30 higher than normal the last few months, and this broken dehumidifier was likely the cause. Luckily, Costco took it back, thanks to their guarantee!

This is my 4th portable dehumidifier over the past 10 years or so, various makes and models, having all failed in 1-3 years for different reasons. Costco or a 3rd party warranty is a must. What a scam...

I've researched ad nauseum to find a budget friendly reliable alternative and they just don't seem to exist.
I debated about going with a whole house or commercial dehumidifier unit this time, but with their significantly higher price tags, it would have to last 10+ years to be worthwhile, so that's a bit of a gamble too and more to lose. So I grabbed a similar size portable unit again off the shelf at Costco, Midea this time, so let's see how long it holds up.

I read that some have had luck duty cycling these instead of using the built-in humidistat to get more life out of the unit, as the built in sensor is prone to short cycle and putting additional wear on the unit. The Midea has a smart app and home assistant integration, so I've set it up with that to run a few hours off and on during the day. Lets see what happens...

I mean… look these are all pretty crappy and are only going to last a few years. Water corrodes.. refrigeration is higher pressure… it is what it is. You're paying 60 bucks a year to have a dry basement. I work in my basement so worth it to me. I call and try to get a warranty replacement and have gotten one once. But If you just expect them to last a couple years you're good. Buy them cheap and they are what they are

What other options do we have? Midea lasted 11 months, GE lasted 4 years, but can't find them now.

Yep. My GE ran like a champ for about 4-5 years.

For information, I just opened the box and it doesn't come with a continuous drain hose. It can be connected with a garden hose.

I can't say for this model but I have been reading reviews on dehumidifiers the last few days. Typical life span nowadays is 1 to 3 years. Better buy the extended warranty.
