They are fantastic. Plumbers will rail against them, but they are game changing for those of us DIY. Especially if they are in accessible areas. I had had several going for 15 years now with zero leaks and if one did? It would take all of 60 seconds to swap it out. You really need to make sure the pipe is deburred and clean however, or the o ring won't seal around the debris or grime.
keep in mind
this one connects to cpvc, not pvc pipes

After owning a home for the past ten years, every plumbing mishap that I've had to redo, I've added one of these for individual cutoffs in preparation for any upcoming unforseen events. Definitely worth doing.

How are modern sharkbite connectors? I was working on something recently that had 15+ year old Sharkbite connectors and it was a PITA to get it to not leak

I've used sharkbites a handful of times at different homes and it has been fine everywhere I have used it. I think they are fine to use in places you can easily reach. I wouldn't use it behind a wall though.

I have to replace my gate valves for my hose shutoffs but I have already decided I would try my hand at soldering them since they are easy to access.

They are great, buy the accessories including the mini flute looking plastic depth gauge and the removal tool (I opted for the fancier one- a buy once item). Follow instructions to the letter ie prep pipe properly. They are now approved for in wall use. cue plumber rants.

Just watch your flame and near by floors or walls. Use some tin sheeting to deflect the flame. I'm considering doing my two as well.

As a homeowner, I do our own plumbing jobs, like install sinks, extra water lines for new washing machines, and whole house filters, etc...although these are reliable so far after many years, I only used them where they are exposed and not inside walls, so far so good.
