Based on reading Amazon reviews and making assumptions, this item is a you get what you paid for. It's going to do the job and prop up your laptop screen if it's sitting there untouched on a desk while docked but you may be annoyed at it for anything else.
- Some people complain about its stability on couch/bed.
- The legs are not sturdy enough for someone to put weight on it while leaning forward or smash types.
- Adjusting this stand is unintuitive and awkward.
- I am going to assume that the sheet metal your laptop sits on is thin and will flex and bow easily if you want it to.
- I'm going to assume the hinges aren't very tight and will feel weak with a lot of side to side sway. Multiply that by 3 hinges and it doesn't sound like a stable time.
Item weight - 4 lbs (3.6 for non XL)
My sturdy laptop stand (only for use when docking) is 8.4 lbs. It's $140 on their website and also doesn't allow you to use the keyboard or straddle your lap but it's my only personal experience and just a demonstration of item weight (and price obviously) being an indicator for sturdiness. https://a.co/d/cKgPLSI
edit: Just noticed that the black xl is a "frequently returned item". The normal and white xl say nothing so it may not have enough sales data to report? https://a.co/d/dJ35kqX
I have a similar one and it's a pain to adjust. I do not recommend it.

I bought one of these (diff brand) and use it every work day. I love mine. And I paid a lot more for mine when I did get it...
$52.49 back in 2016... so this is a great deal!
Mine is 11.4 x 22 x 1.38 inches

Was this the same model for 12$ a month ago? I want one but not more than it was. I can wait again.
This is silly. If you need something, and it's on sale - get it. What's $3 vs. going without something you need for who knows how long? If you don't need it, save your money. Even at $12 it's pointless to spend money on something you don't need, no matter how good of a deal it is.

Is this useful for just having the keyboard and mouse (not as a laptop placement)?
