I'm pretty sure you can use the bonus card towards the purchase of another gift card. You just need to add it to your account beforehand (rather than entering it at checkout).

This used to work but they recently killed this strategy. Gift cards can't be used to help pay for a new gift card.
New strategy is buy something that exceeds that gift card and then return it, they'll issue a new gift card with no expiration. Problem solved.

For what it's worth I was able to do this with the bonus card that was given out at the beginning of the month so as far as I can tell it still works.

Don't sleep on Backcountry.com along with a cash back site. I got a Sherpa rack 20% off and then 15% cash back plus 2% card cash back.
