I have the Zegama, the Pegasus Trail 4 and the Terra Kiger 9.

All 3 are drastically different shoes.

The Terra Kiger is the "lowest profile" of the shoes. Least cushioning. Fantastic grip. .Meant for "shorter diistances" but built for running fast.

The Pegasus Trail 4 is an awesome shoe. It's great on the roads. It's great on all but the most technical trails. A true "road to trail" shoe They've got the fit absolutely dialed in. Grip is really good. It's meant to go long and be worn for everyday running.

The Zegama is a beast. It's got the highest profile. The ZoomX cushioning is fantastic. As you pile up the miles (I'm talking 20+ mile long runs on the trails) you'll notice your legs just aren't as fatigued. It's meant for trail only and true trails. It handles rocks and roots easily. No rockplate so if you're wearing it on really technical trails you're going to feel it if you kick a rock.

I've read so many reports on the Zegama that mention they are horrible on wet surfaces. I've personally never had a problem with them but ymmv.

Supposedly they built the Zegama to compete with the Hoka Speedgoat...having used both it's tough to say which is better. The Speedgoat is kind of the gold standard now but their are elements of both shoes I really like over the other.

Overall for $65 it's a steal. Again they are meant for trails. If you do a lot of road running these probably aren't for you.

Size wise, I'm normally a 9 in almost every shoe and I went up to a 9.5. The 9 was just a little too tight.

When this shoe was released it was met with disappointment and criticism by both professional reviewers and runners alike.

These are actually my favorite shoes when I'm out on trails with my dog. They may look chunky, but the ZoomX foam is light and much bouncier than my second favorite pair, the Pegasus Trail. The negative reviews for this first version mostly mention issues on wet rocky surfaces. However, the recently released Zegama 2 features a Vibram outsole to address those concerns. Personally, I stick to pavement when it's raining to avoid injuries and the cleanup.

Nike isn't known to make the most durable, reliable shoes. For serious trekkers, trail runners, hikers, etc. I'd go with Merrell, Brooks, Salomon, Altra, and the like. Nike is kind of borderline athleisure aesthetic with some performance.

Promo code does not work.

Edit: Disregard it only works for the black and white. I wanted the white and yellow.

I think people got disappointed because the zoomx was caged and did not meet expectations. Once broken in, it became very good.

In for a pair - thanks, OP!

Plan to wear these mostly as casual/lifestyle shoes. I cannot be bothered with rocks, cactus, rattlesnakes and discarded Gatorade bottles.

That's not a great idea. Look at the pattern on the outsole: it has aggressive lugs for grip on gravel, dirt, mud. Not that suitable on pavement, especially wet pavement.
