I used my feet to hold the far legs in place and then my hands to line up the poles (while laying down). I have the large size so that may have made my method easier but overall it couldn't have taken me more than 5 minutes. My dog loves this and lays on it often.

I don't have this product but looks like the same idea, and same complaint, that most people have with camping cots. The fabric is made to be super taunt. Need to use leverage and some physics to put it together so it is nice and tight.
