But this is worse because of non standard bits. With screw drivers where you can change out bits i can grab any one off the table as needed and dispose of those that get damaged. You lose a bit from this one or it's damaged and you'll no longer be reaching for it.

Don't you think any of the long driver bits will work on this?

In the Q&A section someone said other bits didn't stay in and the responses said that they didn't make any replacement bits...yet.

Good catch, then its definitely a pass. I have the old version that uses standard bits for about 10 years now. It's not on sale but its only $16. Here is the link:

When I think about how a screwdriver is used, I have a hard time imagining how a ratcheting action would actually improve function (aside from making a fun clicking noise) – in fact the "spinning" of a standard driver in your hand seems like it would be much faster than twisting your hand back and forth to ratchet. Am I missing something obvious, or maybe a specific use case? Especially stubborn/high resistance screws are the only thing I can think of, in which case I'd be reaching for a bit holding ratchet or drill for more leverage. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

I got one of these as a work gift about 12 years back. It was an older version of this but i still have it and it's still my favorite screwdriver

I bought this in store, and it broke after 3-4 uses. Feels like something came loose inside and gets in the way of it ratcheting.

This isn't a regular ratcheting screwdriver. The gears in this screwdriver allows you to drive (or loosen) fasteners whether you're turning the handle left or right.

Bought 2 of these on a previous sale. The action isn't great but it works ok. The plastic for the screw cap for the bit storage broke on one of them. For $10, it's just ok.

I bought it to keep one upstairs for little one-off needs.

Also it does have a lifetime warranty on it. I've replaced my ph2 Phillips Kobalt screwdriver twice since it was stripped. The second time customer service said no they don't do that and I asked for a manager. When she asked the manager the manager told her yeah we do this all the time and showed her how to ring it out.
