I'm so confused on the different model numbers. Is this one old?
Not sure if I'm missing something. Description says it's 2024 model and a search of SD shows this is the lowest price it's been. Not much love being given though. I thought this was the one that went FP for 800.

It's a refresh of the Original 1000R G9. They did the same thing with the G7 VA's and called them G65 so that they could price them the same as the old ones. Most significant change is the base which is no longer that annoying V that takes up 30% of your usable desk space
Ah, I was curious what the differences were. Note that this does also have HDMI 2.1 which is the bigger change. You were restricted to DP if you wanted the best experience on the OG G9 (HDMI 2.0) but 2.1 should have the bandwidth for everything. I believe this is cheaper than the og g9 ever got as well.
Wow, not even the Neo G9 version. How much inventory do they still have of this model? One would think this was gone long ago!
It's basically the same monitor it's just rebranded. I have the first Gen G9 from a few years ago and the specs are identical pretty much aside from HDMI 2.1.
When the first gen came out HDMi 2.1 wasn't really a thing yet for monitors.

Technically true but with cashback, cancel tricks, etc, a lot of people were able to get it for under 700. This was like 2-3 years ago though so you would expect this monitor with near identical specs to be cheaper.

The 1st gen model used inferior LED technology. The newer 49" that came out after was called the NEO G9 with the newer LED technology. I had it.

No one's stopping anyone from doing that now though. I don't know if Samsung removed the 2x 10% but people on other products report lowering the price by talking to a rep prior to any purchase. And cashback still exists of course.
I think I mathed my purchase in '21 to $660? after discounts, cashback, tax, etc.
I do think they upgraded the panel though to not have as many problems as rev 1.0 G9s so it may be a safer buy. At least that's my hypothesis from the ultrawidescreengaming or whatever subreddit it's called of people reporting G9 scanlines.

This is the 2024 model that replaced the OG G9. Not a fan of Samsungs confusing naming conventions

The newer 49" G9 QLED is called the NEO G9. That's why the title threw me off for a sec.

As far as I can tell this doesn't have Mini-LEDs despite being a newer released monitor.
Look online, everyone says this is basically the same monitor as the 2020 one with HDMI 2.1 with other small changes.
